Date of manufacture, Hi Standard Sentinel MK IV

Picked up a High Standard Sentinel Mark IV .22 Mag revolver, but can't find a source for it's date of manufacture. SN is S623XX. All I can find is info for pistols. Can anybody give me a link? Thanks. Stock picture

Ruger LCRx .22 WMR With Heavy SA Trigger Pull

I have a 3-inch Ruger LCRx .22 Mag with an adjustable rear sight. The six pound Single Action trigger pull is very smooth but too heavy to use the sights effectively for offhand shooting, especially because the revolver weighs only 18 ounces. I didn't buy it to shoot out of a mechanical rest or...

    Question: Charter Pathfinder .22 Mag

The currently produced Charter Arms revolvers seem to have regained general acceptance compared to the Charco company disaster in the nineties. As expected, the current Charters are said to be not as well finished as, for example, the much higher-priced S&W products. But, concerning only...

To clean or not to clean a .22 for accuracy?

What do competition shooters do? I've read that they clean down to bare metal, then season the barrel with the particular .22 LR ammo they will be using in the match. That kind of cleaning requires a good brush. On the other hand, some folks say they seldom if ever use a brush to clean their...

    Khyber knife value?

At the next gun show I'll be selling/trading a couple of fixed-blade knives. What is a fair asking price for a 4-inch, drop point Japanese survival blade stamped, "KHYBER STAINLESS 2650 JAPAN". It's a hefty 7 and a half ounces; has a burgundy Micarta handle; a full tang; an inch and a half long...

Taurus model 94 SS .22 with underlug

Does anyone know the year in which Taurus added the barrel underlug to its stainless steel model 94 (.22 LR). Before it did so, the SS model 94 looked very much like the S&W model 63 kit gun, a classic beauty. I've asked on the Taurus and Rimfire Forums, but no one knows.

    Which Remington 700 model?

Anyone know which 700 model has no sights, wood stock with cheek piece, jeweled bolt and non-bull barrel in 30-06? Thanks

    Taurus model 94 sideplate

Bought an old model 94, 9-shot .22. Took the sideplate off to clean the gunked up action, but can't get it back on. I've cleaned many similar S&Ws but never had a major problem getting the sideplate back on:cuss:. Does anyone know the secret for replacing a Taurus sideplate?

7.5 Inch bbl 22 Mag velocities?

Picked up a Colt New Frontier .22 Mag Buntline which has a 7.5 inch bbl. Has anyone clocked .22 Mag ammo from a bbl of that length? How about from an 8 and 3/8ths S&W .22 Mag which should be just a bit faster, but just a bit because the Colt has an excellent b/c gap compared to most Smiths.

Loading a Ruger Single Six .22

I've had three used ones. None lined up (chamber in line with the bore) for loading as the cylinder was turned until a click was heard, i.e., the cylinder had to be turned a little more and then held in place before a round could be loaded. My only Colt SA .22 is lined up for loading at the...

    Colt New Frontier .22

My new-to-me New Frontier was made in 1974; L1404X. It had only a .22 LR cyl. when I bought it used. The bbl. is stamped ".22", so I don't know for sure if it's a .22LR/Mag convertible. When I called COLT to ask if it originally came with a Mag cyl., too, because I wanted to try Stingers...

Do Taurus barrels turn clockwise like S&W?

Picked up a fixed sight Taurus .44 snubbie (1992 mfg.) DA revolver. It has a POI 3 inches to the left of POA at 15 yds. with two different types of ammo. Sights look aligned OK. To move the POI to the right, I'll have to turn the bbl a hair clockwise (to the right) when viewed from the front...

Why does Taurus say don't dry fire?

This week I called Taurus to speak to a techie. I wanted to ask about types of factory grips for my DA revolver, and also if it were true that Taurus revolvers should not be dry fired. The only person I could talk to was a nice young lady who didn't know much about my DA revolver except that it...

    Ruger or Taurus?

Since S&W prices are getting too high, I see a lot more people buying Ruger and Taurus these days. Is it possible to say, in general only of course, (1)Ruger makes a better revolver than Taurus or vice versa, or (2) as far as service is concerned, one company is better than the other?

    Taurus M431 44 Special

At a recent gun show, a dealer wanted almost $400 (including tax) for a like new, blue, model 431, 3 inch, no box. Granted, it was a really beautiful, well balanced, pre-lock, first-year-of-production example of a .44 revolver. And, yes, it was a discontinued, 3 inch .44 Special, which is all...
