    SCOTUS Nominee Kagan

I think answers to Kagan's limited published views on the Second Amendment lie with her time working in the Clinton administration. She was part of the faction in favor of closing loopholes on gunshows and having gunlocks furnished with all gun purchases. Not much different than 99% of the other...

    SCOTUS Nominee Kagan

Strange that in the recent week two posters, one with one post and one with five suddenly rush to inform us Kagan is the next best thing since ice cream. While their intentions may be valid, I question why if we have nothing to fear from Kagan regarding the second, why are some going out of...

New Nominee for Supreme Court Justice - Elena Kagan

habeas, not to belabor the point, which you and others seem to bring up, but if her senior thesis is unimportant, than so should be her complete college education, as than we could arguably state she learned nothing.

New Nominee for Supreme Court Justice - Elena Kagan

It may be that people here are focused on Kagan's views on the second, as well they should be. But with little information available, let's look at her view on the first amendment, might be helpful. 1996 "Private Speech, Public Purpose: The Role of Government Motive in First Amendment...

    Define legal vs. political

Art, so the political views of the NRA could not be brought into the discussion? If we cannot comment on the judicial and executive branches of government appointees that may wish to trample on our rights, the opposition has won the fight. We do not need the "fairness doctrine" we have...

    Define legal vs. political

I had the same thought as Victor1 about the thread closure. Tis a fine line between the two, especially when emotions are running high about gun rights and control. I think I'll go to the range and fire off a few rounds to keep this gun-related.

insuring a plentiful ammo supply for the future

DMK, nice picture, you are a lot neater than me, good start on ammo, by the way. When we learned to shoot as young kids, we shot .22 caliber almost always. Hand and eye control co-ordination over LOTS of shooting is invaluble. For you guys looking for reloading components advertise that...

    Ruger internal key safety

Just happened to catch this, bought a New Vaquero Bisley, and it has no internal lock. I do not care for the white grips that came with it, after some research found out that all Ruger Bisleys take the same grip. Not utilizing the internal lock makes finding grips easier, I would hope.

300 Win Mag vs. .30-06...Which would you choose?

Having hunted with and shooting all of the above-mentioned, if I were to buy one gun now it would be a 300 Winchester Short Magnum, A-bolt or such. Lighter and shorter gun, just about same balistics as the big brother. Personal preference and need for everyone is different, but the 300 WSM...

    crimping 7.62x39

Well, I used the .308 expander on new brass and loaded some Hornady 150 grainers with cannelure and they turned out great with the RCBS seating die. Wish I had camera to show the nice crimp, no sign of any bulge and tight grip on bullet with no deforming. Just takes a little patience and go slow...

    crimping 7.62x39

So, would this be a problem with new brass also? Krochus, how was the velocity with the 170 grainer. Enough to expand properly? I also measured the expanders after thinking about what you said about expanding with the wrong size, and low and behold they are both the same, for .310 bullets. I...

    crimping 7.62x39

Starting to load 7.62x39 and I wonder what experience anyone has had with crimping the .308 bullet with a Lee crimping die? I have never used a crimping die before, the RCBS dies I have used over the years have not seemed to make it necessary. I seem to have a problem with the .308 bullet a hair...

    Bill Oreilly anti view

Oreilly is an ego-maniac of the worst kind. If you think Obama wants to be King of the U.S. old Bill wants to be king of the world. I quote "once I got rich" from one of his shows. If that isn't the remark of a striving wanta-be elite, you tell me what it means to you. He dances to whatever tune...

what's the big deal with the 300 win mag?

Got to agree about the accuracy. I never would have bought one, but I won a Model 70 stainless 300 mag and it is absolutely a great shooter. I would not be without it, but I don't carry it around the woods tracking or still-hunting. Great for stand hunting clear cuts. That's why we have more...

Flying pigs warning! Milwaukee paper favors CCW

The main item is to do away with open carry, now that it is shoved down their throats. Watch what you hope for, more restrictions does not equal freedom.

    Do you handload?

Economics surely figures into the plus column for reasons to reload, but I'm surprised that no one replied they do it for a hobby. I have been in it for almost forty years. I think in time people will appreciate what you can do with reloads; this takes time. Stick with it. You will appreciate...

    Marlin 60 or Ruger 1022

Bought my son a Ruger for Christmas about 30 years ago, terrible with stringing shots. Could have monkeyed with it, but traded for a .270 bolt Ruger for him to deer hunt. I felt bad he had no .22 so I gave him my Winchester 74 which is a tackdriver. I bought a Marlin stainless 6o with laminate...

I've found guns in odd places...

back of my dad's store in the fifties I found a double barrel 12 gauge with external hammers along an old foundation. The case fabric, was was left was rusted to the gun. Slugs were next to it, no paper left from case. I forget if the brass was there. Sold it for fifty cents. Was a silver half...

    "Never sell a gun"

Sold a .257 Roberts in pre-64 winchester made in early 50's. Bought a pre-warning no 1 and .243 Ruger 77 with the money. I am behind at least 1500.00 on the deal. Won't sell another until I am dead or dying.

Man with assault rifle joins crowds outside president's Phoenix venue

After journeying through this intellectual discussion of armed near the POTUS is a smart thing to do or not, I think it has evolved to the old discussion of open vs. concealed carry again, with a slightly different twist. Some people state they love guns, but still can't stand to see someone...
