700 stopped firing and it's not a broken pin!?!

Did you re-seal the adjustment screw after making your adjustment? If you didn't, the adjustment screw could have moved during firing and is not allowing the firing pin to release fully.

    .308 Varmint load 110g Hornady V max?

The Winchester case will hold a lot more powder than the military "match" case. It is thinner and does weigh less, however, they just don't seem to last as long because of this. The loads I use with the LC 96 Match cases provide all that I need, so the use of commercial cases isn't needed.

    .308 Varmint load 110g Hornady V max?

I use this load for out to 300 yards (I use a different load for distances beyond that). Very accurate in my P-Dog rifle (5 shot groups = .231" @ 100 yds.). As a additional note, my rifle doen't like Winchester cases and while testing them, my 5 shot group size opened up to 1.495". It's...

Vaccum seal ammo? OK to do?

I vaccuum seal a lot of my ammunition, especially if it won't be used for an extended time. Here are a couple of pictures of 1939 8mm ammunition in German battle packs that were sealed in 2004. No air, no dirt, no moisture, no wear, no sweat.

Picked up and SPS Tactical .308 yesterday

I just finished my SPS Tactical .308, using a Super Sniper 10x w/side focus. Base mount is the Leupold One Piece QR with rings to match. The scope tracks very well and the rifle doesn't shoot to bad either.

    V-max for 308

I use the 110 grain V-Max for P-Dogs out to 300-350 yards. Velocity at the barrel is around 3050, I had one person tell me that he's never seen a .308 hit a target at 300 yards so fast, like it was instant.

Getting my head around the pocket crimp and Dillon Super Swage 600.

I found that the small rod (the one that pushes against the primer web) is to small and can damage the primer pocket. I turned down the large rod to just fit the fired/expanded neck of the shell and haven't had any problems.

The million dollar question: I'm looking for an AR, which brand?

The only thing that I can add is... don't wait. A lot of vendor's are sold out and it could be a few months until they recover and then it could be to late. Some vendor's show that they have items in stock, that is until you order it. 8-12 week wait (or longer) for some items.

Want to buy a M4 style gun ... election pre-ban jitters...

I have just finished putting together an M4 type Del-ton Upper with a Double Star lower and all the other parts were supplied by Del-ton. And I didn't get the chromed lined barrel, no need for it. The carbine worked great, no problems at all. Total price...$575.00 The folks at Del-ton are...

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

Okay, I'm outta-here... The PC people are sniffing around. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings with the facts!

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

You heard...he/she said... This is one reason why people are buying chromed lined barrels, like they will even shoot 10,000 rounds. Like I said, I have a standard chrome moly barel with over 10,000 rounds fired and it's still accurate. Maybe not as accurate as when new, but then what...

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

Okay, I'm waiting to hear about all the -MOA groups. I shoot a lot of competition with the AR and when I see a question like this and the answers I see, boy-o-boy... There are more Olympic caliber shooters on the internet than in reality.

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

I find it just amazing that before barrel chroming, any rifle would even work. :what: Like the M1, M14, Thompson just to name some. I'm sure that some of those weapons have endured more crap than anyone here has put their rifle through. It all gets down to what you want, not what you need.

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

So, when was the last time you shot out a barrel? On one barrel I have shot over 10,000 rounds (that's correct, 10,000) and it still shoots well and it's just a plain Jane chrome moly barrel! Look, if you want a chromed barrel, go for it. But saying that you "need" a chromed barrel is...

    Brake cleaner?

I use Birchwood-Casey Gun Scrubber, removes everything and doesn't leave any residue.

Is a non-chrome lined barrel on an AR a dealbreaker?

For me it's not a deal breaker... Most of you people will never ever need a chromed lined barrel. Like someone else said, "Mall Ninja crap". Wanna-be's... Most of you think that you will be involved in WWIII next week, but have never had any training to ensure your survival. If you...

    AR-15 barrel indexing

Do not use a barrel block when torqueing the barrel nut. That is the "old" way of doing it. And if anything, you can damage the index slot using that method. When using this method the receiver will want to "torque" in the direction of tightening. However, use the barrel block to install...

Brass Deflectors on AR Service Rifles

I have one of the old military brass deflectors. If I remember correctly they were made at Ft. Jackson, SC. The unit I was with got rid of them when the A2 rifle came out.

    AR-15 cycling trouble

Adding a drop of oil to the end (not the inside) of the gas tube (where it slides into the carrier key) and inside the carrier key is a normal part of lubrication for the M16/AR15.

Reduced load 30-06 with IMR 4064 OK?

I use reduced loads in my 03A3 during old military rifle shoots. The load I use is quite accurate and has very little recoil, it's also good out to 200 yards. The load uses 20.1 grains of IMR 4759, with a 147-150 grain FMJ bullet and the mean velocity is 1730-1758. I have shot many, many of...
