Handled a new .22cal Colt King Cobra at the LGS yesterday

Just over a thousand rounds through mine now, and the trigger is really quite smooth in DA for a rimfire. Practical accuracy is superb, capable of 1” groups at 25 yards off a bag. It appears to prefer slightly higher velocity ammunition for optimal accuracy. Only issue is that if you dry fire...

Any suggestions on aftermarket new model Python rear sights?

The Wilson set is excellent. You’ll be looking at more like $190 total if you get the rear with the matching gold bead front sight, but it’s really well made. You can just do the rear and keep the original front ramp, that’s $110 now.

    38 +p or 357 for sd

20 years ago, when this site was created, a sense of mutual respect and politeness was not just an expectation, it was a requirement of membership. I am dismayed at the deterioration of that founding principle here. If people with common interests can't be respectful of each other in a place...

    Anyone have the new Python?

2000 rounds in, and still absolutely zero issues.

Christmas Python headed back to Colt-CZ

Sounds like you didn’t use the lockdown screw on the windage adjustment. Of course it will freewheel, if you didn’t actually READ THE MANUAL and lock it down.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

I’ve been a member of this forum for 19 years, and I can say, the standards of some of the posters do not meet the original intentions of the founders. It’s sad to see.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

Ah, I get it now- you simply don’t understand you are commenting on a DIFFERENT POSTER on the thread.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

It might have saved you a lot of unnecessary typing if you had noticed I mentioned that was OFFHAND. Not off bags. It shoots one ragged hole at 25 off bags with everything I’ve put through it.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

Clearly you’re a better shot than I am.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

I respectfully disagree. Update at 1000 rounds (including 480 full-power .357, which included 80 Underwood 158 grain hollowpoints): Trigger weight in SA is now at 3-1/2 lbs, DA is at 7 pounds 5 ounces, and the SA crispness and DA smoothness is even better than out of the box. Accuracy-wise, I...

New Colt Python First 100 shots

Absolutely agree with your point of view regarding externals... but the internals of every vintage Python I've ever peeked into are absolutely crude compared to the new ones. I've seen better finished lawn mower parts.

New Colt Python First 100 shots

I have been shooting a lot of DA with my 4.25” Python, and this has paid many benefits for everything else I shoot. Mine has an 8.5# DA and 4.6# ounce SA, which is far heavier in SA than my Smith 686-5 7-rounder at 2.5#. However, the Python SA trigger is extremely crisp, with zero movement...

    RMR suggestions

Cheap red dots are false economy on any serious use pistol. Trijicon RMR is a superior choice. Pay once, cry once.

    Turkish Handguns

Interestingly, there is one (and only one) of those sitting in my LGS as we type. Seemed like a nice pistol, but nothing I would purchase personally. They also got a Wilson AR in which sold in about 15 minutes or so.

Unbelievable, dumb cleaning mistake - kills friend

The denial of this very real video by people here is mind boggling. All three of the negligent discharges I have witnessed that resulted in gunshot injuries involved very little blood. Bleeding is often delayed for a few moments after a gunshot injury to the body. The video shows EXACTLY what...

Cocking for Dry Fire - Novice Discovery

Even ball-and-dummy drills can bite you this way. I make sure I do an actual tap-rack-bang whenever I run B&D drills, for the same basic reason- under stress you'll default to the things you do the most in training.
