I'd think caliber would matter more (ie. 22lr vs 45acp).

When I carry .380, it's Hornady Critical Defense. I like the idea of a deeper penetrating, but still (moderately) expanding round in a lower powered caliber. For 9mm, I use the same ammo year around.

My only Remington is an 870 Express 20 ga (circa 2000). It is my primary clay gun and has been as reliable as an anvil with el cheapo Wally World Federal and Winny fare. I love it. / it doesn't like ejecting Herters ammo every now and again. Solved that by not buying that junk.

I'd go 20 ga too, if for no other reason, the availability and variety of factory ammo. Just bought my wife the SA-08 in 20ga for shooting clays. She loves it. Nice gun for the price.

You are correct that that is a heckuva large case to fill with a small charge of faster powder. When I started loading 45LC, I used Titegroup because of it's purported insensitivity to powder location in the case at detonation. You can barely see the powder in the bottom of that chasm. More...

Thanks all for the commiseration. :o Bullet popped right out of the barrel. It had barely engaged the rifling. I've been loading on a Lee Turret for quite a while. I really need to rethink my reloading strategy. This has kind of spooked me a bit. :(

I tend to go to my local Cabelas for very specific things (ammo, reloading stuff, shooting accessories). Luckily, haven't had to ask anyone for directions yet as they can be hard to track down. I love having the store here. Only place around here that even has 22LR ammo (and tons of it).
