    Apparently I suck at hunting

Hunters. Essentially there is one large circle where everyone parks because you can't go any further (big river) and behind isn't public land. So hunters hike around the river a short distant and all come back to the same spot to field dress the deer. I came back there on...

    Apparently I suck at hunting

Not only did I not get any deer.... I didn't see any deer. The only thing I did see was two other hunters, one of which who wasn't wearing orange (and stalking). I decided to hunt at the Rapidan WMA in Virgina because of its proximity to a deer processing plant and a naive idea that there...

    Processing Plants: Virginia

This winter, a friend and I are planning are first hunting trip; since we are both novices, we decided to simply have a professional prepare the meat. Unfortunately, it seems like nearly all processing plants are adamant about not having a website :banghead: This makes verifying whether they...

    Mossberg ATR-100

This winter, I finally decided to go white tail deer hunting. Not wanting to invest too much in the sport, I am planning to buy a mossberg ATR-100 rifle; it certainly seems to be the most durable and accurate gun for its price. What concerns me is the scope; I am trying to keep to a budget...

    Judged mentally deficient????

"I have fullfiled my legal obligations on this matter." A father has a legal obligation to pay child support... but doing the minimal doesn't make him a good father. Either way, if anything happens, you must live with the decision. I fear you aren't looking at this from a rational point of...

    Handgun Ownership in Virginia

I know that a gun can be gifted to you at 18 years old... I am also fairly certain you can purchase a gun at 18 if its not a federal dealer.

    Possibly new hunter!

I am from Chesterfield VA, but go to school at James Madison University (Harrisonburg). "3rd 243 is a fine rifle... But as stated before its kind of light for deer sized game albeit it is legal to use.. If it were me i would look for something larger.. Say maybe a 270.. If you want to hunt...

    Possibly new hunter!

I am a college student from Virginia, and me and a friend want to get into hunting. Neither of us come from a "hunting" family so we will basically be learning on our own. If any of you know any group (NRA, etc) that takes new hunters out in Virginia, I would love to hear about it. While I know...

    Is This REALLY Necessary ?

Statistically you will be attacked by a group, but statistically most "gun battles" are ended with 3 shots. So.... if there is a 5 in 100,000 chance of you being a victim in a crime.... maybe there is a 5 in 100,000,000 chance of you needing multiple magazines. Probably not needed, but can't hurt.

    Illegal Immigrants and Gun Ownership

What with the "only citizens" can own guns comments? Legally, that isn't right. As long as you are on US soil, you are entitled to the constitutional rights. There is simply no requirement for citizenship. What does this mean? This means the government can not prevent non-citizens (who enter...

    Hunters shooting my dogs

A few post saids that trespassing with a firearm is a felony in their state. Doesn't that seem a bit harsh. I would imagine its fairly common that hunters miss posted signs or accidentally went too far before noticing they were off their property. Just seems a bit odd you could loose all...

Arizona Gun free Zone Act proposed

Virginia needs a bill like that.... but we all know Governor Kaine (Friend to gun owners.... as long as your not a college student) wouldn't pass it.

    CASE DISMISSED!!! Matt Corwin

Best news in a long time! Good for him! I too was disgusted by some of THR remarks; nobody should EVER be ashamed of their hobby. Owning guns isn't about keeping it a secret from your neighbors. THR community is filled with good people who are great neighbors; when love ones and friends...

Worried about 2A? 1A just went bye bye..

I am disturbed by how some people think this kid "got what he was asking for". Yes, he was obnoxious and might have wanted to get arrested. But the fact remains, police are obligated to conduct themselves in a certain way ..... which includes not using excessive force. Some aspects of...

Worried about 2A? 1A just went bye bye..

WuzYoungOnceToo, are you saying that resistance of being escorted out is a form of violence? When I think of violence, I think of some physical attack. Perhaps the definition of violence in C1 is defined differently in law, but the individual wasn't even attacking the officer. It looked like...

Worried about 2A? 1A just went bye bye..

I think the conversation has turned into a question of excessive force. Once he crossed the line of decency, he gave up his "right" to ask a question and the police/university have every right to ask him to leave. But using such force to stop obnoxious behavior seem to violate the police's own...

Worried about 2A? 1A just went bye bye..

That's nice.... but I don't see any evidence of him being dangerous OR violent OR a threat to anyone (including the police handcuffing him). He is on the grown, being handcuffed, with five officers. And the officers still felt they had the authority to use a less lethal weapon? Give me a...

Worried about 2A? 1A just went bye bye..

C1 and C3 seem clear to me. People who are dangerous, violent, or pose a threat if you get near them would all be consider a physical threat.
