The grips must be made by Nill. They look very familiar. :)

    Korth

I've never had any issues with my MR73, but it is a fairly new model and only has a few thousand round of .357 through it. I run it hard, with lots of fast double action. The piano wire design was replaced with a flat spring in the 1977 (you have to take off the side plate to see what style...

    S&W M&P 22 Or Ruger SR22

I wanted to like the Ruger. It was very reliable compared to similar 22 autos like the P22. It was not at all accurate. IMO, this is a plinker and nothing more. Plus the backwards safety is annoying. I traded it for a lightly used Trailside.

Ak FTE, is it a mag problem?

You can rule out the magazines by testing without one. If it extracts and ejects when single loading, look to make sure you don't have excessive bolt drag. Pretty rare in a gun with this many rounds downrange, unless fire control parts have been changed.

M1A Socom II. talk me out of it.

BTW, I wonder where the previous poster is going to get a SCAR17 for $2000?

M1A Socom II. talk me out of it.

Nothing wrong with the SOCOM, though I don't care for the IIs rails. I'd put the Smith gas plug in. The M14 series and it's clones have excellent irons, but were designed at a time when optics were not found on military rifles. Mounting optics can be problematic, but since the SOCOM is really...

IMI Timberwolf .357 pump, red dot or irons?

I had mine drilled and tapped to mount a Williams rear peep. The rifle has a lot of accuracy potential and will be well served by a good set of iron or a scope/red dot.

Glock Guy Goes to Dark(er?) Side...

I recently picked up an HK and while it is a decent gun, why is the trigger so crappy on a gun that is supposed to be so high quality and costs so much? And after handling a number of HK I find the same terrible trigger so this doesn't seem to be a unique problem (you can find many complaints...

Gah, yet another AR looking rifle. Can't someone be original for a change?

    AK-74 Clones?

Interarms or Waffen Werks seem to be the best guns for the money. That cheap 5.45 is corrosive, so a chrome bore is pretty much standard. The arsenal guns are all Russian but the extra money doesn't buy you any more performance, and the guncote finish one my WW 74 is much nicer than my Arsenal...

    Why are M1A's so expensive?

Volume makes for cheaper pricing too. TRW's bid for M14s in 1961 was $72.84, adjusted for inflation that is something like $550 today. But that's building rifles in a plant specifically designed to do that, and the plant cost around $6 million in 1960 dollars. Not too many companies can...

What rifle for the Hornet ?

the M6 is a neat toy, but not much of a shooter. That weird trigger is great if you have a broken finger, but it's not something you ant to shoot much if you want to hit anything.

What rifle for the Hornet ?

I have an low wall in K-hornet. Not having an ejector is handy when you don't want to chase your small and easily lost brass. If you don't reload it may not be an issue in which case the CZ 527 is a dandy rifle once you shave the bolt handle so your scope doesn't require high mounts...

    1-4x scopes for military use

The 1x/4x combo is nothing new. The Russians were doing it back in the 1960s with the SVD. The 4x PSO is mounted to you can still use the irons.

    54R: New Rifle

Why the fear of corrosive ammo? Chrome bore and routine cleaning take care of that.

My review of the S&W SD9

I bought a new SD9 recently for a cheapo blaster. I have to say I actually like the grip better than the M&P, but that's personal preference. I've put a few hundred rounds through it and it shoot quite well. The trigger is on the heavy side but in keeping with the idea of a self defense gun...

What .308 semi-autos meet these criteria?

As noted, It really depends on what you want. The AR-10 variants win in terms of ease of modifying, scope mounting, accuracy and a decent trigger. It the only rifle mentioned where upgrading the barrel is a simple option, and there are lots of accessories. Unlike the AR-15 there isn't a...
