Taurus 24/7 long slide replacement front sight

I have a .45 ACP Taurus 24/7 long slide that shoots low no matter what I put through it. Semi-Wadcutter, 200 grain ball, 230 grain ball. Any idea if there are replacement front sights that will work with the 24/7 so I don't have to file down the front sight or hold high? The Doc is out...

    Fun on the range

We tried something different at the local range this week. The Hancock County Gun Club of Carthage, IL. has a monthly meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Prior to the meetings we try to have some sort of shooting event and maybe some food to go with it. This month, we tried something...

    Midwest Big Bore Seminar

Can't figure out where to put it here, so I'll just announce it here. The Hancock County Gun Club of Carthage, Illinois is hosting the Midwest Big Bore Seminar featuring John Linebaugh of .475 and .500 Linebaugh Cartridge fame, on May 27, 28 and 29. 2011 More information is on the website...

    Brass frame timing

I know we have seen posts about brass frames on revolvers before, but they have been about the frames failing for the most part (they don't). However, ol' Turner Kirkland used to say in his catalog that brass frame guns over time get out of time. How about it, any truth to that from you...

    New Vaquero vs. Vaquero

Okay folks, I have a question. Not getting gun magazines during the time when Ruger switched from Vaquero to New Vaquero, I don't know, and was not able to really find after a search here, the difference between New Vaquero and Vaquero. So what is the difference? Was the frame and...

Any idea of whether or not the Muzzleloading Forum has been hacked? The Doc is out now.

Barrel flushing on flintlock, some help please

Friend of mine at the range told me of some place making vent plugs with attached tubes for flushing out a flintlock barrel. Said that if you tell them what gun you had, they could make the vent plug to fit. At the time, I was a little hot and tired and evidently, forgetful. Anybody here...

    Taurus side-to-side cylinder play

I asked this question on another forum, and so far have 24 views and no replies. I recently got to handle two brand-spanking new Taurus Tracker revolvers. One in .22 and the other in .44 Mag. With both I was able to wiggle the cylinder from side-to-side when the hammer was back and the...

How to have fun at a Muzzle Loading Competition, without competing

There was a Muzzleloading Buffalo Shoot at my local gun club this last weekend. Shooters were gunning for metallic silhouettes with conical balls at 100 yards and round balls at 75 yards. Though there were not many shooters, there was a variety of long guns, ranging from modern inlines with...

    Fun with the kids

Took both of my kids ages 11 and 13, out to the range yesterday. With all that they do (football, track, volleyball, band and basketball) it is hard to find time sometimes to get them out there. Brought along two Ruger 10/22's, one the compact model I got for them with an older model Weaver...

AR question. Dumb idea or not.

Remember that Johnny Cash song, "One Piece At A Time"? Been thinking about getting a black rifle. One big thing holding me back, lack of larger positive cash flow. I was thinking about getting a lower end AR in price. Then I thought, instead of getting a lower end AR, what about getting it...

    PT1911 Update

Had it out for some competition this morning. Pistol Bowling. It was hitting right on, better than I can hold it. No hiccups, ftf or fte. Came in 3rd in my first event using a 1911 pistol. (I am used to revolvers and after 52 years of being on this earth, finally got a 1911 design). :D People...

New Movie, New Silly Gun Thing

There is a new movie coming out with Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie. It is called WANTED. In the movie, they teach a guy to "curve the bullet". So, holding the gun sideways (presumably because that is the way it comes out of the box) he whips the gun while shooting it and the bullet acts...

    Another range report, Taurus 1911

Now I will preface this with the statement that I am not a 1911 shooter. I started with revolvers and my biggest semi-auto until recently was a P85 9mm Ruger bought way back when the P85 had been out for a year. So I picked up a Taurus PT1911 the other week, the stock blued model. Today was...

I'm going to brag a bit

Occaisionally, the gun club I belong to has a Rotten Egg Shoot. We hang eggs that are superglued to strings and try to shoot them with .22's as they swing in the wind. We have them hung at 25 and 50 yards. Now I had gotten one of those Wally World Ruger 10/22 Rifles, the one with the long...

    Stupid question, probably, but...

Okay. Model 66 Smith - no dash. Well used and carried as a duty weapon for 7 years. (by me) The question is: Leave it as is, or, polish it like the stuff Gunkwazy has posted here before to that nice, shiny polish. Reason I ask. Gun has some value as a collector piece now, despite being...

    Question on German markings

 Okay, I just have to wonder. Just how many ex-Nazi wartime handguns are out there? Looking at certain models, (HSc, Browning 1922, PPK's, etc...) especially on Gunbroker, a great majority seem to have German military marks. I just have to wonder how many of these are phonys, stamped...

    Is this guy serious?

Found this today. Could not believe the hype that was being given this gun. Looks like it is from the earlier line of Korth's. Almost looks like RG influence there. :what: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=92284442 Whaddya y'all think? The Doc is out now.

    Gun control does work?

Found this in the news. Thought it was interesting from the standpoint of do as I say, not do as I do. No Guns Founder Pleads to Gun Charges LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A former gang member who founded an anti-violence group called No Guns has pleaded no contest to federal weapons charges...

Speer 88 grain hollow point .355

After searching the Speer webpage, I take it that they have discontinued the 88 grain hollow point .355 (.380/9mm) bullet, the cone-shaped bullet. Anybody know about this? The Doc is out now.
