Today, $400 is considered cheap for 'em.

I have a single Russian Izhevsk SKS from 1953. I paid $500 for it several years ago. I figured if I was going to buy one, it might as well be a good one. As of today, there are two for sale (that say Izhevsk anyway) on GB. A crappy one for $655 and a good one starting at $1675. Time will...

Handgun, Rifle, PCC, or Shotgun for Home Defense?

My answer to these are always the same. A 9mm with 147gr subsonic pills and a silencer if you can afford one. Unless you've been dumb enough to fire a ND in a small room with hard walls, you don't understand how disorienting that may be.

Looking for an affordable long eye relief scope

Assuming that Optics Planet is filling out their specs correctly, see if this works for you. https://www.opticsplanet.com/s/long-eye-relief-scopes?_iv_parent-scope-eye-relief=range-5-5-dot-9-in,range-6-6-dot-9-in&_iv_parent-binocular-eye-relief=31-plus-mm&_iv_magnification-type=variable

Ammunition sold in the USA per caliber?

    That's what I'm looking for. Thanks. I'm surprised .223 beats out 5.56

Ammunition sold in the USA per caliber?

Does anyone have data on the percentage of ammo sold in the USA by caliber? I don't need to know raw numbers, but slices of the pie chart. For instance, like 20% .223/556, 15% .308, 12% .30-06, etc (all made up). I'm more interested in rifle calibers, but handgun calibers is a good data...

I have no idea where people even shoot anymore.

If you can't afford a house on the land where you'd want to shoot, can you just...not build a house there? I assume you are willing to spend some money since you mentioned it, so is it possible to buy a plot of land somewhere you can shoot without it having to be your home base? Keep/buy a...

    Complete AR15 with 1:8 twist?

My sight of choice is backordered until May so it'll be forthcoming! I'll report here if the thread is still open. It looks like a quality unit. MSRP is $2099.95 but one of my local stores had it for $1550 before tax, so that made it a no brainer. The had a wall of high-end AR15's like...

Primary Arms SLx 3X vs their MicroPrism version?

For a difference of $30, I'm trying to figure out why anyone would still buy the bigger version when the Micro prism is available. Is there a difference in eye relief? Glass quality? https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-slx-3x32mm-gen-iii-prism-scope-with-acss-556-cqb-m2-reticle...

I can now say I own an AR. Maybe one of these days I'll shoot it. 😝 Thanks for everyone's help.

    Complete AR15 with 1:8 twist?

I was set on waiting for the Bravo but my LGS had the Wilson Combat Protector in stock and it checked all the boxes. https://wilsoncombat.com/long-guns/models/protector-carbine/protector-carbine-556mm-nato.html

    Complete AR15 with 1:8 twist?

Cursory reviews of those SS barrels on the web don't get a lot of praise. I'm still looking...but keeping BCM in my back pocket. I know nothing on how to build an AR15 and while I'm sure I could learn, I'd rather just buy one. I'm not an AR15 kind of person, but want to get one...

    Complete AR15 with 1:8 twist?

So all my "fun" ammo is 55gr. By most reports (and I do NOT want to debate this), most 1:7 barrels are fine with 55gr pills, BUT NOT ALL of them. So why take the chance? I have zero interest in heavy .223 bullets. This is for fun; fun ammo is cheap; cheap ammo is 55gr.

I didn't realize BCM made that. OK that works!

    Complete AR15 with 1:8 twist?

I'm looking for a complete AR15 to buy (not build) that has an 1:8 twist rate out of the box. Prefer DD or BCM level quality, but flexible there. 16" mid-length. This does not need to be a discussion about 1:8 vs 1:7. Just trying to find one.

    Reasons for keeping "safe queens"?

I have a few, and this comment applies to me. Some are just older, nice examples of what was once a fairly common gun, but isn't anymore. For instance I have a Smith 25-2, but I don't shoot it because I have a newer 625 as well. I can shoot .45ACP all day in that until it bursts into pieces...

Should a American Citizen, With No Legal Disqualifications, Be Able to Board a Bus,Train, Subway or Plane with a Firearm?

I'm okay with no firearms on planes. Only because one wrong shot can bring it all down. That opinion has nothing to do with the second amendment and more about the reality of the situation. I'm fine with busses, trains.

    New 357 Lever Action

I would have liked to see an 18.x" barrel instead. I'd rather lose 1 shot capacity and have it slightly handier. Also depending on your load, you've already maxed out the speed before 20 inches.

.357 Magnum carbine that is not a lever action?

My Marlin 1894c is fiddly and I get stuck cartridges now & then. I'm having a gunsmith give it a once over as I write this. To me, they just aren't reliable enough. Perhaps it's my specimen; perhaps I should try a Henry. But I wanted to know what else is out there first. I'm not a Ruger fan...
