Do you wear eye protection when reloading?

You know what pushed me into wearing eye protection? Having to study statistics and risk assessment for classes. That's what REALLY taught me why thinking "I've never had a problem so far, thus I won't have it in the future" is such a wrong concept (although it's so easy to fall in it!)...

    Oleg Volk, Creepy as hell?

As another "SA goon", my two cents: Something Awful is meant to offend, provoke and ridicule by means of exaggeration, disproportion and satire. I'm sorry, "I can't think of anyone who'd like it, thus the author meant it" is just wrong. Since when an author's intention depends on what a...

    Installing a swing swivel

Hi folks, I just got some swivels for my Maverick 88, Uncle Mike's style. I screwed the front one in the magazine tube's spring cap, but I want to make sure of what to do before touching the stock and install the other swivel. Do I just drill a hole and twist the swivel in? I read in a...

    Ears Ringing from the range!

scrat, don't forget to come back in, say, 25 more years (you're still young) and let us know how your hearing is. I've seen many old school shooters with premature deafness of varying intensities. One common diagnosis is shouting when talking. People just can't hear themselves, lack ear-larynx...

    Ears Ringing from the range!

The ringing means that you're losing frequencies in your hearing. You'll get used to it and stop noticing it, so "it will go away", but the damage to your internal ear sensory cells is permanent, and the loss of ability to perceive those frequencies is also permanent. We can hear many...

Checking the powder drop on a Dil sdB.

The bulb itself is just out of frame but you can tell where it is from the light. It shines directly above the press and I can always see if there's powder in case at the 3rd station. This was unintended but welcomed, I was thinking of moving that light but now that you mention this...

Progressive presses - not for new reloaders?

In my humble opinion, they want you (us) to buy two presses. I'm new as well, and I started from scratch with a progressive with no problem at all either. The progressive can work as a single stage if I want it to, but no single stage press will ever become a progressive... a second purchase...

    Made a couple reloading videos

Thanks, they're very good! I'm still waiting for someone to do this, but with a Square Deal B. We've got two fine instructive videos for the 550 already!

    Ammo ban???

Some countries where liberty is restricted (such as mine) have this kind of regulations. You can only own up to 2,500 .22LR rounds, and up to 1,000 rounds per caliber above .22LR. You have a "purchasing card" where gunshop owners write down the amount of ammo you buy, and it's all registered by...

How Do You "One Kind Of Each" Guys Do It?

I also have the collector's defective gene, but my financial and economics discipline is not as good as yours, SteyrAUG! I intended, some time ago, to start a Nihonto collection. I failed miserably because I started spending money on guns (and I just own 3). How about you start throwing in some...

For Dilloners: differences between Square Deal and 550B?

I'm going on the fast lane to crazy town. A used XL650 has been offered to me for roughly the cost I'd have importing the Square Deal. I'll be an idiot if I let it go, won't I?

For Dilloners: differences between Square Deal and 550B?

For Dilloners: differences between Square Deal and 550B?

Hello folks, Can anyone tell me the downsides of the Square Deal versus the 550? The SD is cheaper, includes a set of dies and is fully progressive, shooting up to 500 rd/hr. The 550 costs more, doesn't come with any dies, and the shellplate is manually indexed. Spits up to 600 rd/hr...

What to check in a used Lee Pro 1000?

Jeez, I feel like a woman shopping. I like to hunt when shopping: see prey, go for it, take it, pay and exit the premises. Taking care of little details, discriminating, choosing and picking the best fruits and roots is gatherer's work :D :D The more I research, the more I turn blue. Money...

What to check in a used Lee Pro 1000?

I intend to start IPSC, that's my motivation for reloading :D but I don't know how much I'd be shooting for sure... either way it's a lot of money spent :( Regarding costs and overprices, we have to pay shipping across almost 9,000 miles... plus 50% customs taxes... plus reseller's profit (and...

What to check in a used Lee Pro 1000?

The Lee Turret is $250 here, plus powder dispenser, plus dies. I want to thank you all for your assistance and attention, entering the world of reloading is deffinitely not a simple task! Julian PS: I might end up buying the Dillon... it's over three times my intended budget, but eventually...

What to check in a used Lee Pro 1000?

Thank you all for your messages! I neglected to include in my profile that I'm in Argentina, and when taking into account shipping and customs costs, plus intermediaries (local stores), our prices go double, triple, or more. The Pro 1000 is being sold here at $480 (US$) new, and this guy is...
