    S&W Model 59

Had a Model 59 years ago, now I have a 5906. I really love the stainless version, It will eat absolutely anything you feed it. Don't rush in taking it apart and reassembly, and by all means use a good quality lube. Enjoy that 59, there aren't many that I have found to compare it to.

    S&W Model 59

With complete disassembly you will also be able to inspect and you may find worn out pieces, another problem with well used weapons. If you find worn pieces you can call Smith & Wesson for replacement parts.

    S&W Model 59

Sounds like a dirty weapon. Just a few questions, 1 is this a well used gun? 2 if it is well used has it ever been completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned? It sounds to me like a Pistol that has been field stripped and not completely scrubbed. Perhaps after a good cleaning it will work...

Lets talk about S&W 3rd Generation Auto Pistols 5906 etc..

I Absolutely love my 5906, never had one problem eating ANY Ammunition I have fed to it. Would buy another in a Heartbeat. It is every bit as good as the first generation 59 I had years ago.

    Fitting new sights to a S&W N-Frame

Spencer, If you don't want to ruin a good thing just paint the sights with some florescent paint. It wouldn't hurt the value of the weapon. Good luck with your new (old) .45 you should get much enjoyment from it.

    Beginning 22 Pistol

Get a 1911 style 45 that will accept the conversion slide Geronimo Mentioned. Not only will you be able to shoot .22 cal, you would be able to transition better to the .45 cal. Practice with the .22, then when you get better switch the slide assembly and your habits with the .22 should carry...

    Most respected firearm manufacturer

Personally I like S&W, I currently own 3; K19 4inch (great little revolver), 657 (great mid-sized revolver) and a 5906 (never a missed round, stovepipe or problems eating ANY ammo I feed it Period). I had my K19 re-blued and when it came back it was missing the spring for the hand, I called S&W...

Where is all of the .223

cbsbyte On your third point; I beg to differ, Federal Cartridge makes Military 5.56 rounds, But I guess working there doesn't amount to much. Federal can't make enough of it, even working 24/7.

    Bad Federal Bulk .22

The problem is not the ammo, there are many different ammo/weapon conflicts. Some won't cycle the CCI, some Federal, some Remington. It is a very difficult problem to explain but weapons are very picky when it comes to Rimfire ammo. BTW American Eagle brand is Federal ammo. If you find ammo...
