The Big Heller Decision Discussion Thread - AFFIRMED 2ND AS INDIVIDUAL RIGHT

For those that don't want to/can't read the opinion, here is an email I just sent to some friends of mine with some of the more interesting highlights: Highlights of his opinion: -At the closing of his section addressing the WHO the amendment refers to: "We start therefore with a strong...

Crossbreed supertuck - can I really conceal it under a tucked shirt?

Yes to the OP. I'll go one step further though: I've concealed the regular crossbreed under a tucked shirt with no problems.

I'm not comfortable with a new cartridge that may or may not "flop" and become, comparatively speaking, extremely expensive. So the .327 is out, although the article in the most recent G&A was pretty interesting.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, after alot of thought, that I've ruled out the Kahr. That is really good to know about the SP101 being a bit too heavy for pocket carry because I was leaning towards that. As far as the 1911 goes, it would be a Springfield EMP or Micro Compact, infact the local toy store...

    The Ruger P89

I see you are in Birmingham, if you can slide up here to H'Ville, Larry's had several P-89s and P-85s in the 200-300 range last time I was there. I agree about the later ones though, until the SR-9, they didn't have any autoloaders that I like as much as the 85/89.

    The Ruger P89

shep854, if I remember my history right we'll never know who actually would have "won" that "competition" b/c Ruger never did submit a sample for testing. They didn't feel it was quite ready yet. Also, my 85 is completely original something I'm kinda proud of.

The reason I'm leaning away from another CW-9 is A) I'm a big fan of variety and all of our handguns so far are 9mm, and B) I'd almost feel weird getting 2 of one thing on my "list of how to drain my pocket book" before I have 1 of everything on my "list of how to drain my pocket book"

What gun would you consider as a "Fun Gun"?

If we are talking any gun: Saiga-12 If we are talking handguns only: some sorta big beastly revolver, probably ruger, in a hefty caliber something like .44magnum or larger.

    The Ruger P89

Oooo I can kinda agree with that. The only "functional" complaint I have about mine is the SA trigger pull can be annoying at times (especially if I shoot it right after shooting my friends 1911) it has too much takeup I think. Oddly enough though, I love the DA trigger pull. Backwards isn't it ?

DOH!! I can never remember the numbers...I actually meant the 642's .357 counterpart but it would be a moot point b/c I wouldn't shoot anything heavier than a .38+p in either gun b/c they are so light. :o :o :o I think I've probably narrowed it down to the SR-9 or the wheelgun. I've actually...

    Bittersweet Day

The only other idea I have at this point would be a ruger SP101 instead of the 642 if I got the wheelgun. Man I'm so indecisive...that and there are so many good guns to choose from.

    Bittersweet Day

Well, yesterday was a very bittersweet day for me. I had to go renew my CCW permit yesterday, and my fiance came with me to finally fill out her paperwork to get her pemit. YAY!!!!!!!!!! However, here comes the bitter part, in approx 2-3weeks I can't carry her Kahr everywhere anymore. Who...

    The Ruger P89

I own a P-85 (which is basically the exact same gun) and it eats everything I've thrown at it. Also, it has been proven,by someone with many many many more years of shooting experience than me, to be an absolute tack driver. I've literally seen someone put 3 rounds through the exact same hole...

Save Yourself The Hassel ( & The Wasted Money ) Buy The Leather Holster First.

For those saying Kydex is better: Agreed For those saying leather is more comfortable: Agreed The solution: Crossbreed IWB or Crossbreed Supertuck. The comfort of leather but the benefits of Kydex. I will probably never buy any other holster unless I need an OWB holster for some reason.

    Anyone have a Kahr PM9?

I the slide of her's was slingshotted for every magazine of the 200rd breakin and every time its cleaned and reloaded with SD ammo...never had a problem with FTFeed but its a CW99 not a PM9, the slide is just a hair heavier due to less machining so maybe that makes a difference?

    Anyone have a Kahr PM9?

Fiance has a CW-99 that experienced ZERO malfunctions during the 200rd break in. No failures to fire/feed/eject/lockback slide absolutely nothing. Helped her break it in and couldn't help but notice how silky smooth the trigger is even if it is long. I'm actually considering getting one for...

    new ruger sr9

I have shot it and like it. My only complaints are: A) I don't have one yet and B) the saftey is easy to flip off but tough to flip on C) Couldn't decide which direction I liked the backstrap best so will be flipping constantly when I finally get mine.

    Most underrated semi-autos?

I'll toss in a vote for the Ruger P-Series, I'll never get rid of mine: reliable, affordable, and darned accurate. Interestingly enough I never believed they could be included in the "darned accurate" category even after owning one....this past week I had someone with FAR FAR more shooting...
