Ultrasonic cleaning for guns or gun parts?

That is a fantastic deal. Ultrasonic units work well on the metal parts of firearms. One thing to remember is that they come would absolutely clean of oils and lubricants. It is important to carefully lube the firearm. I usually take the parts out of the ultrasonic unit rinse them, blow dry...

    9mm Sub-Sonic 115-124gr - is louder than most 147gr ammo?

I found that 124gr bullets do go supersonic and are quite loud even with a suppressor. 147gr RN bullets stay subsonic work much better with my suppressor. Just the other day I was shooting and the rounds were much louder than normal. When I checked the ammo I had picked up a box of 124...

9mm Luger Magazine - Pedigree Unknown

Likely civilian issue Most WWI issue magazines were serialized to the associated Luger. Given that the pictured is not numbered it was likely either a civilian issue or was given a field repair.

Cleaning 22 suppressor parts with ultrasonics

A tumbler with stainless pins works very well on steel baffles. The method for treating the cleaned baffles described in http://www.rrdvegas.com/silencer-cleaning.html (above) works very well and will make cleaning much easier the next time. I went with a Thumbler Tumbler and it works very well.

    Ultrasonic gun cleaning

Ultra sonic cleaners can do a great job. I cleaned a number of vintage Lugers using an ultrasonic cleaner. They had been cleaned by hand many times, but you would not believe the crud that came off in the ultrasonic unit. After drying the pieces with a blow dryer (they have NO oil left on...

Details of New Executive Actions to be Announced Jan.5

From Sam "What are you guys talking about? That's not in there anywhere! Almost nothing has been changed by this. Are we just (again, once more) making up boogey man stories to scare ourselves with?" __________________ The AFT released new guidance today. Among the requirements for an...

Details of New Executive Actions to be Announced Jan.5

How soon are executive orders effective? Are executive orders effective immediately? If so Obama is going to create large new class of felons as it takes quite a while to get a FFL03 license. As currently written there are requirements for a "place of business" that would be a major problem...

    Liberty Safe Problem

If you want "bulletproof" boltwork, go with a Sturdy safe. I purchased one after looking carefully at how the bolts were attached and supported. Shiny bolts often are attached with one screw in many RSC "safes".

NRA Stickers on Car. Good Idea or Not?

I was a professor at a large liberal public university. Gave me a smile every day driving in with my NRA sticker prominently displayed. Hope it annoyed a good number of nitwit faculty.

    An unfired Broomhandle Mauser.

Check the bolt stop Broomhandles are really interesting firearms and a lot of fun to shoot. I have a restored one that is really beautiful. In researching them I did learn that it is important to make sure the bolt stop is in good shape. It is a rectangular piece on the right rear side of...

    Silencers/supressors advice.

Can't speak to Ohio's regulations, but the federal AFT process is just long, not terribly difficult. You set up a trust for $100 to $200 from any number of web sources. Next buy a suppressor and submit the paperwork to the AFT. The store should help with this and will hold the suppressor...

    locktite on barrel extension?

Hello, I am buying my first suppressor and just had a barrel extension added to my CA-75B. The instructions that came with it say to use locktite blue on the barrel threads to prevent the extension from unscrewing with the suppressor. The issue is that if I do that I have to break the...

When does a hobby become a business?

A friend often buys firearms (as well as other goods) at garage sales and then resells them. He has a pretty good number of pistols and rifles built up and is considering renting a table at a gun show to sell them. At what point does he need be a gun dealer with an FLL as opposed to a...

I Need a Great Big Gun Safe

positioning 2 or more safes Two safes is a better idea. Take the "best" safe and put it in a corner. Place the second safe against it. Bolt both down. Put the best items in the first safe. The second safe will protect the vulnerable side of the first safe and it will be a real challenge to...

    Trip to NY

No, you are entering the least-free state in the country. Remember in NY you are guilty until proven innocent if you have a firearm. Do not bring it into NY. Having lived in NY for 35 years I hardly wait to get out. Why not have your friends visit you, I am sure they would enjoy the freedom.

    protecting a window

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will go with the ballistic panel. I hope it never is hit and I don't expect it to. Sort of like a fire extinguisher, good to have but hopefully never used. I am not concern about the issue of fumes. When the garage doors are open there is a lot of...

    protecting a window

trap type The trap type is a snail. It is 16" square with a snail type coil in the back. I built a heavy wood frame around it to catch or slow errant bullets before they get to the back wall. I also put heavy wood on the concrete wall behind the trap to minimize any ricochets as well has...

    protecting a window

a few updates My garage is 2 stories, 30 x 50ft and all reinforced concrete as I am in a hurricane zone. We built it as a hurricane refuge in addition to being a garage. I have overhead fans that blow toward my workbench and another fan directed out a window. When I shoot, the over head...
