How Often To Remove Trigger Group on 870?

I shoot my 870 very infrequently, but I am pretty OCD about cleaning my guns. I have a Mesa Tactical side saddle on it so removing the trigger is a little more involved than without it. How often do you remove the trigger? Can I just blast it from inside the receiver when the rest of it is apart?

870 Police Trigger Guard and Mesa Tactical Shell Holder Not Fitting

I’ve been upgrading my 20 year old 870 Express. I’ve had a Mesa Tactical side saddle on it for probably 15 years and no problems. I bought a metal Police trigger guard in gunbroker and the pins from the Mesa saddle are giving me real issues going through the trigger guard. I finally gave up and...

Remington 870 Trigger Group Disassembly Video

I have been upgrading my 2004 Remington 870 Express to Police parts. I have an 870 Police trigger group on the way. Is there a good video of taking one down? Couldn’t find one. I’d like to start with a thoroughly clean part. I have a sonic cleaner I can use but it’s always better to take it...

Removing Paint From. Surefire Forend on Shotgun

Local shop has some 870 Police shotguns with Surefire forends. The forend and stock are painted orange. Probably designated as less lethal weapons. How would I get that paint off without damaging the electronics in the forend?

Upgrading 870 Express With Police Parts

I bought my 870 Express right before Freedom Group bought the company. Never had a problem but the gun doesn’t get shot much. I remember replacing the extractor to a steel one instead of the MIM one it comes with. I read an article about upgrading certain parts to bring it up to the Police...

    New (To Me) S&W 36

Looks almost new on the outside, but the hammer has either been broken off at the tip or grinded off. Will probably get another hammer. Gun was almost impossible to cock, because it was FILTHY inside. Congealed goo everywhere. It's totally disassembled and taking a bath in automatic transmission...

Safariland 6378 ALS Holster With No Locking Lever? ***PICS ADDED***

I have several Safariland 6378 ALS holsters. They have the little thumb lever that you have to rock forward to draw the gun. I bought one on Amazon last week. It arrived the other day. Model 6378 ALS holster for M&P .45. No locking lever in holster. So I call Amazon and ship back the...

Drill and Tapping Remington 870 Express

I have an 870 Express from 2006, before Freedom Group bought Remington. Always been reliable. I remember installing a non MIM extractor. It has a side saddle and a Blackhawk Compstock. But I prefer a ghost ring site and a front sight other than a bead. I read somewhere that the Express...

Source For Sig 226 9MM Mags?

After many years without a Sig I have a 226 9MM again. I’d prefer factory mags but I know Mec-Gar makes them. I checked Greg Cote and only see the 10 rounders. I know I could buy used but then I’d have to replace the mag springs so no cheaper doing that route. This is a 30 year old 226. Sent...

Slide Lock Won't Release on M&P Shield 1.0

I've had two Shield 1.0's that worked flawlessly. Have a Shield Plus that is flawless so far as well. I bought a New Old Stock Shield 1.0 NYPD gun. I collect PD guns and I served on that department. When I went to clean it, with the slide locked back to rotate the take down lever, I pull the...

Failing to Eject in Glock 17

Took my brand new Gen 3 Glock 17 to the range today, and fired 100 rounds of my 124 grain plated reloads. I haven’t fired a factory round in any of my guns in years and I have fired thousands of these very same reloads through multiple guns and never a malfunction, and a Glock 19 was one of...

    Dry Firing Ruger Mark IV

Not looking to do it for any dry firing practice, but taking it apart to clean requires the gun to be cocked, so after putting it back together, the gun is still cocked. I don’t want to store it still cocked. I’m aware I can use a small cap or a dry walk anchor as a snap cap, but then I’m...

Finally A Good Deal On Used S&W Revolver

I’ve been on an NYPD collecting kick. I am retired from thst department and I like guns with history. I’ve got guns starting with a 1946 M&P to a 1993 Glock 19. Newest addition is a 1983 Model 10-8. Winning bid was $280. Hardly any wear at all. clean on outside and filthy on inside. gonna pop...

    Excellent Glock Customer Service!

I bought an NYPD issued Glock 19 Gen 2 a few weeks ago. I carried one just like it on that job, but I sold it years ago. Good gun, but Glocks just weren’t always my thing. I see a Gen 2 Glock 19 on the auction site billed as NYPD issue. Serial number is 150 away from my old one. Surely the same...

Glock 19 Gen 2 Trigger Pinches Finger

I recently bought a Gen 2 Glock 19 from a retired NYPD officer. I carried the same model on that same job many years ago but sold it. It has the NY2 trigger in it, as my old one did. Took it shooting today. 100 rounds of my reloads. No failures. But the trigger definitely pinched my finger...

How Bright Are Meprolight MH3 Sights?

I just bought a PD trade in Glock 19 Gen 2. It has Glock marked night sights with MH3 on them. I believe they are Meprolights. They’re dim, so certainly not the original since the gun was issued in 1993. With the lights off, I can see them, but they’re not nice and bright. But I’ve never had...

    Glock Warranty- Very Nice!

I have another thread on a Glock 19 Gen 2 that I just bought on Gunbroker. It's an NYPD gun and it came from the same academy class as I went through nearly 30 years ago, so nostalgia got the better of me and I bought it. Got it today and it is in very nice shape, but being a 30 year old gun...

Glock 19 Gen 2 On The Way-For Old Time’s Sake

Years ago, I carried a Gen 2 Glock 19 as a NYC cop. Didn’t know much about guns at the time and we had 3 guns to choose from. The Glock 19, S&W 5946, and the Sig 226 DAO. We bought our guns back then, and I recall the Glock was $325, the 5946 around $525, and the Sig a little over $600. Gun...

    Reassembling Striker Gun Without Striker

Obviously I know it wouldn’t fire, but could it be done without locking up the gun? I know removing the firing pin in an AR can lock up the bolt. Pulling the trigger wouldn’t even result in a click so you couldn’t dry fire it but you could still rack the slide, correct?
