    Q on potetially unsafe situation

Well, the thing is it was 2 days ago and I don't remember exactly what it was leading up to it. I just remember being shocked when I saw the powder and the bullet lodged up in it.

Your Experience with Ruger Double Action Revolvers

I've got a Super Redhawk and Redhawk. The SRH is actually smoother than the King Cobra I've got. The Redhawk needed a trigger job, but total investment in it was only $750.00 and it's now the smoothest trigger I've pulled. Both are very accurate.

    Q on potetially unsafe situation

Over the weekend I was shooting my 454 and could not find a shot that should have been a great hit on the target. Come back and find that the powder in it's entirity is in the chamber and barrell, and the bullet is 3/4" up in the barrell. This was a factory load as well. What in the world...

    Newbie seating question

As far as testing goes, in a nutshell if I have A) the correct amount of powder B) the bullet seated roughly right (the essense of my Q) C) primer in and bullet secured well can I feel confident to safely test my cartridges?

    Newbie seating question

Ok, that leads me to another question, how do you get a "heavy crimp" on a bullet? The way the local reloader described the set up was to place a factory round in, tighten until it hits the bullet, then tighten a little more and it was good to go. Is there part of this I'm missing?

    Newbie seating question

I posed this question on another board, I'll ask it again here to see if anyone can help: Ok, I'm still figuring out this whole reloading thing and have yet to shoot my cartridges. I noticed last night my cartridges had the bullet seated ever so slightly lower than the factory round I was...

    First batch off the press

Well I loaded my first 25 shells over the weekend. I FINALLY figured out the ins and outs with much pain, but now have something to show for it. The 454 was getting SOOOO expensive to shoot, and now I have a platform to feed it with and I'm very excited. I'm sure not far down the road I'll be...

Question on velocity increase in rifle

I'm looking at getting a 454 carbine to pair with my Super Redhawk, and also for the simplicity of only reloading one round. If you're getting 1900fps out of a 7.5" barrell, what kind of increase could you safely expect to see in a 20" barrell? 240 to 300 maybe?

    Question on starting up

Strat81, thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I appreciate the other posts as well. I luckily found a store here in Nashville, ironically enough, called The Reloader's Bench. The guy said bring everything you have in and we'll look at it, get you what you need beyond that then show you how...

    Question on starting up

Well, I'm mainly trying to feed a 454 Casull, then 44 mag secondly. The Hornady manual I mean REALLY sucked, it completely assumes you know for the most part what you're doing. There is a reloading store just outside of Nashville, and I'm thinking about driving over there and just saying "how...

    Question on starting up

Ok, I've read the "read this first" stickies, and got a question. I bought the Hornady Reloading Manual to start, and it was pretty much a waste of $45.00. It gave no step by step instructions, which I assumed is what a manual did. Unfortnately, I ordered it so it is lost money. Before I...

    My New Gun

What are the velocity numbers on that kind of a bullet? That sounds like more of a bear gun to me! :) Looks sweet by the way.

    Unsuccessful Revolvers

I'd say the first thing that comes to my mind is each of these manufacturers have several marque guns that have changed shooting in some style or fashion over the years. Colt with it's Walker years ago and the development of the 45LC as well as the 1911, S&W with the 357 and 44mag and ruger...

    Having scope mount issues

It's a swift 2-6x 32mm scope. Are there other mount to use on a Super Redhawk frame? I thought it was basically use the integral ones that came with it.

    Having scope mount issues

Ok, I'm having issues with my 454 SRH's scope again. It slides forward under typical usage and dispite my attempts to better secure it (with double sided tape on the scope/mount for one) it still moves forward on me. Should I just bite the bullet and shove it as far forward as it will go in...

What do you think of Taurus guns

To me a Taurus is what it is; a cheap entry level gun. I'm not sure why ppl try to make it out to be more than that. What gets me is their resale is so poor compared to Ruger/S&W/Colt that I don't understand why ppl just don't save up a little more money and get a more quality revolver. On a...

What happened to the Colt double action?

What happened to cause Colt to drop double action's off there line? What was the motivation to now only do single action revolvers in cowboy action cartridges? Were sales of these guns that bad? Colt has a long tradition of making great double action guns, I was surprised when I visited there...

    32 Auto ammo in a 32 S&W

No, I'm not going to, I was only answering questions posed. That gun is a piece of crap and I never shoot it. Just got a Kind Cobra over the weekend though, and thought "hmm, ammo. Maybe I'll take the 32 out with me as well if this will be suitable." I appreciate the feedback.

    32 Auto ammo in a 32 S&W

This thing is an old 7 shot Arminius. I had wondered it pressure was an issue or if that round even generated enough extra pressure to be an issue. It is not a break top revolver.
