these are clear powder coated
with the older cap & ball Colts and Remington revolvers, you could rest the hammer in notches between the caps on the back of the cylinder

try light bullets, 110, 130 gr etc.
they will have mild recoil.
Also, think about an AR15, in 6.8SPC or 6.5Grendel, light, handy, more horsepower than .223, and very little recoil
