    marlin 336

What are some simple upgrades I can perform myself to make a 336 a little 'tougher' if you will. I know they're already fairly rugged but is there any weak area that can be improved without taking it to a 'smith? Also, is the A still produced? I like the end cap better than the band, vain I...

    8x57 to 8x68S?

Is it at all possible to convert a Mauser K98 8x57JS to a 8x68S rifle? If so, how much work (read $$) would it take? Also, is 8x68S ammo available / easy to reload?

    .30-30 from a 16" barrel

how would a 16" barrel affect .30-30 ballistics as compared to 20"? I recently purchased a Marlin 336A & am considering having the barrel shortened & adding ghost ring sights.(for a short, hardhitting HD,SHTF carbine)

    .30-30 for defense

I have a Glock 23 in the nightstand & a Remington 870 20g. in the closet. I'm considering the .30-30 because I have no long guns. I like the Mini 14 & 30, but I want the additional power that the .30-30 provides. I'm just wondering if lever action's are reliable/durable. With enough...

    .30-30 for defense

What do you guys think of the .30-30 as a defense round? Lever guns are relatively cheap (read: in my price range), so is ammo & it has enough power as a manstopper.

    Marlin 336A vs. 336C

I'm wondering what are the differences if any, between the clamp on the forearm of the 336A & the actual band around the barrel on the 336C?

    Ruger Mini 30

are Mini 30 barrels .308 or .311 diameter? Domestic 7.62x39 ammo is .308 while imported (Russian) is .311 right? Can I safely use both in a Mini 30? Also, does Ruger produce factory 20 rnd. mags for the 30?

    Yugo AK for Mini 30

I'm considering trading my Yugo M70 AK for a Mini 30. I had a Mini 14 but sold it & bought the Yugo because I wanted a slightly larger caliber than .223, more of an impulse deal than anything :banghead: I want a reliable mid range rifle to fill the gap between my Glock and .30-06 My...

    Century Arms M70B1

Bummer... well, I'm thoroughly disappointed. I'm already thinking about trading it in or just selling it. I figure if it is a paint finish, it's not even worth keeping. I figure I won't get near what I paid for it, but what are some AK's worth trading for?

    Century Arms M70B1

I purchased one of these today & am not very impressed with the finish. It looked fine, but I soon found out scratches very easily. Are these CAI Yugo M70's truly parkerized or just a cheap imitation? Also, what can I do to prevent scratches and rust with this type of finish?

    Yugo AK

One more thing :) the finish on the metal is REALLY cheap, scratches easily and looks like it could even rub off :D Is there anything I can do to prevent rust and wear, short of refinishing?

    Yugo AK

So I broke down and bought a Yugo M70B1 AK today. It felt and looked better than the Egyptian & Romanian models next to it by far. Let me know what you think about the Yugo AK's. The wood furniture is rough and unfinished. Any suggestions on how I could put a better (weather resistant)...

    Romanian AK's

I checked out the site and have been reading everything I can find. I've read a fair amount about problems with quality from Century. I want an AK, but I don't want to spend the money only to have it turn out to be a POS. The WASR's seem to be the better choice than the SAR's as far as...

    Romanian AK's

Will the WASR rifles reliably feed bulk Wolf ammo? I've heard about some corrosive primers or ammunition? Is this Wolf?

    Romanian AK's

Is $400 a good price for a Romanian AK? Also, are they as durable and reliable as other AK's?

    wood stocks and humidity

wood stocks vs. humidity The rifle in question is a Remington 700 BDL. I don't think the barrel is free floating, but I'm not certain. Is there the potential to 'ruin' a rifle? I'm curious because I own several shotguns and handguns, but no rifles. I've been borrowing them for deer and...

    wood stocks and humidity

How big a problem do moisture and humidity really pose to wood rifle stocks? I realize wood will warp, but if I take good care of my rifle, how much do I really have to worry?
