I think it is a relative term - heard it first in relation to 30-06 vs 308 - at some point 308 started winning more matches and folks concentrated on 308 with the argument that 308 was inherently more accurate. I have always thought that the 308 guns were a newer design than the 30-06 guns but...

I had one and did not like it - sold it and went to a Glock22 for whatever reason the recoil seemed less sharp. As defensive pistols go the HP is an old design and some of the more recent designs are more reliable and durable. The HP like the 1911 is a lovely pistol and a joy to own.

I shoot ammo for WWII that does not split - I would shoot it in another gun and see if it splits - that would do it for me.

The gun type really matters. You have the right but there is stewardship too.

Two Czs - Cz 82 - Makarov CZ - Rami 9mm both are amazingly accurate.
