    Military Serial Number History Search

Is there a site where you can search the history of a rifle and see who it was issued to? It would be interesting to see the history of the old USGI Trapdoors and Krags. I've seen copies of handwritten ledgers for Trapdoors and other equipment.

Purchase and Transfer of Antique Rifle Question

Twice in the last 2 weeks, I've had sellers (Auction Houses) request an FFL to handle the transfers of a Rifle. The first was for a Black Power Thompson Muzzle Loader. After a little discussion back and forth they agreed to send it to me. Now I purchased Springfield Trapdoor dated 1884 and these...

    Krag Rifle Value Question

I found an 1898 Krag rifle today that's in pretty good shape. The problem is the back of the receiver on the right end is tapped and has a small rear sight added. Everything else appears original and the stock hasn't been messed with. What's a ballpark value? Unfortunately, I let my phone die...

1873 Cavalry Carbine - Tell me something about it

I just picked this up and took it to the range today. I'm pretty sure the stock isn't correct. The rifle is dated 1880 and the stock is 1884. Tell something about it.

    Rock River 1911 Problems

    Question regarding a SBR

I have an opportunity to pick up a Wolf AR15 piston upper with a 14.5" barrel. My plan is to pin on a longer muzzle device to make it 16" but I can't do that right away. Since I have several ARs does this mean I'm in possession of an illegal SBR even if it's tucked away and not on a rifle?

    What's a 1878 Springfield Worth?

I'm looking at a Cut-Down 1878 Trapdoor with a filled stock and added saddle ring bar. It's in fair to good shape. I'm really not clear on the history / conversion of these rifles. What's a fair asking pricing for this?

Paper Cartridges - What Kind of Accuracy Are You Getting?

I'm experimenting with 2 different revolvers and various loads. The accuracy just isn't there for me. The .44 Pietta Sheriff model doesn't like the paper cartridges at all. The .44 Uberti 1860 is okay but shoots notably better without paper cartridges. I just tried some with a non lubricated...

Reaming the leading edge of the cylinder- I meant chamfering

I was reading an article that recommends reaming the leading edge of each cylinder to eliminate the shaving-off of the lead ring. This makes sense to me. Why shave off the ring when you can simply get a good press tight fit without removing material?

Pietta 1858 Front Sight - Is it threaded?

Well I managed to snap off the front sight blade. I thought it was threaded and moving but it snapped. So how's that sucker stuck in there? It might work out after all. This thing is shooting 12" low at 25 yards.
