    OK - Reloading Workout?

any kind of ethanol/methanol will take off sharpie. I've used wild turkey 101 before on a cotton ball, it did the job. Not sure if you all know this, but you can switch a lee press to left or right handed, but they come out of the box as right handed. I'm a lefty but I keep it righty...

    ATF license to cast bullets?

can't find anything on an FFL type 6, so I'm going to shelf that thought for now. I'm not a commercial caster. I'm a little confused about where the line is drawn about who's responsible for badly reloaded ammunition. The gun manufacturers won't even honor a warranty for a firearm using...

    ATF license to cast bullets?

I'm getting into casting, and am interested in trading folks the bullets I make for raw lead or alloy. This isn't a solicitation to sell my bullets, keep reading. I'm a little concerned, however, that this would be considered "profit" reloading and require an ammunition manufacturers license...

    .45 ACP question

I use 10 grains of blue dot under a 230 gr LRN in my 1911 on the 4th of July. Try it... or you could just trade me for a pound of the best 45acp powder available...hodgdon titegroup.

    pykrete bullets

rcmodel: uh...quickly? the bullets didn't stay out of the freezer long enough to load them. I actually went ahead and flared the case mouth about 4 times, primed them and now I'm contemplating the charge before I seat them. I'm only doing 12 of them, but if this works out it will be a...

    pykrete bullets

well, I was thinking a very fast burning powder would work best. I'm thinking titewad and titegroup at this point... somewhere around 4 grains. I'm hoping to get the most pop, with the least heat...so a slow burning powder may not work as well. We were discussing what, if any, lube to...

Lee Bullet Lube Effect on Powder?

what color was the bullet lube when you loaded the cartridge. If it's white, it's too fresh. I coat mine in a little cornstarch and let them sit for months before loading. Lead hardens over time, and I'm in no hurry.

    pykrete bullets

We just finished casting (err, freezing) 6 each of 200 grain round nose 45acp and 200 grain semi-wadcutter 45acp bullets from pykrete... a mixture of sawdust and water. I'm about to reload them and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this before? I got the idea from the old 'ice bullet' and...

    Car batteries to bullets

sorry, haven't been around much lately so I'm coming in late on this one. I did try this once a long time ago, with a lead-acid battery used in an electric forklift. I put it on concrete and smashed it with a huge roll of 25# paper (many tons). It was an accident, but the fumes of a...

    200 lbs. of Reloading Equipment...

fireflyfather: in all of my years of reloading, I have yet to discard a 45acp case for any reason (except a few that have gotten stomped on and could not be put in the press, but that's ruined by people not by the gun). The same brass has probably been reloaded a few dozen times before it gets...

    Lead going crazy!

elkhuntingfool. sure thing. i've got a lee 230gr round nose 6 cavity I could make you some if you would like. $20 for 140 lbs of lead is a pretty good deal, depending on what alloy it is. Note that most scrapyards are in the 50 - 60 cent range for lead. Wheel weights are harder, which is...

    200 lbs. of Reloading Equipment...

fireflyfather: I don't use corroded rifle brass or any kind of rifle brass that is at all 'iffy'. Pistols (and shotguns for that matter) don't scare me enough to shy away from wierd looking brass. I've got a few 9mm's I've reloaded a few times that are nearly black from corrosion. Quite...

    How to help?

I'd suggest that you have your buddy teach you how to reload, then you load your own. You can't blame anyone for yourself if you damage yourself or your gun that way. I've got four friends who have keys to my garage and they load their bullets on my press all the time. Doesn't cost me a...
