I want a really well made gun safe but don't want to spend the big bucks!

I've been pretty happy with my Diamond Back safe. Is it the best money can buy? No. But it was cheap and will prevent most thieves with a limited amount of time from getting to the contents. And it provides some fire protection. I bought the 26 gun, 630 lb version, but would buy one of the...

    Youth Deer Rifle

.243 is a great choice, but you could also look into a 7-08 or 6.5x55mm (what I hunt with). Tikka makes a fine rifle for around $550 (check Gunbroker).

    Grandma's Got a Gun!

We tried eye protection but she claimed she couldn't see through it. "Get these damned things off of me!" I was wearing my glasses. I'm just glad she wore ear protection!

    Grandma's Got a Gun!

Thought I'd share some pictures of my 84-year-old grandmother, who until yesterday had never fired a gun in her life. I brought her to the range and had her shoot my Ruger Mark III Hunter. She did pretty well, and after the first three shots pulled the trigger as fast as she could with a devious...

Most accurate hunting rifle under $800?

I hunt with a Tikka 6.5x55mm, which is very accurate and just a nicely designed modern gun. Just about any new bolt action is going to be more than accurate enough for hunting out to 300 yards. You might also look at a CZ550.

Public Shooting Ranges in Mobile, AL

Thanks. I will check out Steve's and First Class Arm Training. I've also decided to buy her a ticket to NC. I'm taking her to the range myself. :)

Public Shooting Ranges in Mobile, AL

Can anyone recommend a good place for a first-timer to learn to shoot a handgun in Mobile, AL? A good friend of mine called today to tell me she is thinking of getting a German shepherd because someone broke into her back shed the other night and her neighborhood isn't great anyway. I convinced...

    CZ 2075 Rami :-(

I had a CZ 2075 Rami, Poly in stainless, apparently a limited run and a total disaster. It just didn't work - jammed, stove-piped, what a mess. I sent it back and CZ sent me a brand new P09 for my trouble. The gunsmith told me it was a bad batch and they were replacing lots of them. This was...

Sierra MatchKing .223 69 Grain HPBT Load

24.5 grains of Varget with a 69 SMK does the trick for me in my bolt gun. Just loaded 50 rounds tonight with Lapua brass and CCI BR primers. I've had groups as small as .3" w/my Savage 12FV, and I'm a lousy shot.

Good deer hunting rifle for me?

I use a 6.5x55mm Swede - very versatile round. My second choice would be a .308 and then a 7mm-08. Look at Tikka - a great gun for the money.

    New Range 9mm - Glock 34 or Sig 226

Got the Sig 226 last week. Only had the chance to put 25 rounds through it, but wow, what a nice gun. I like my XD9, but this is much nicer, for me at least, to shoot - so much control and balance, what a nice firearm.

New AK-47 WASR a Complete Dud! Any Ideas?

Did you REALLY hose out the firing pin channel with brake cleaner? Huh? Umm, no? Should I?

New AK-47 WASR a Complete Dud! Any Ideas?

I just bought five AK-47 WASRs for myself and other guys at the club from J&G. Package was about $515 after all fees/shipping/transfer etc - that included 500 rounds of Brown Bear. Well, the mag went in okay, bolt racked okay, first round went off, then nothing. The - I think - Tapco trigger...

Too much crimp on this 6.5x55 round?

I will put the crimped rounds through the Tikka, which will be able to handle the additional pressure, and see if there's any difference in group size. But I'm convinced - these are the first and probably last five rounds I'll crimp. I wonder if I just wrecked five new Lapua cases!

Too much crimp on this 6.5x55 round?

Well, these will be going through the Mauser, but I am considering crimping for my hunting rifle (Tikka T3). Last season I did have a cartridge come apart on me in the field. Also, I was reading a fairly in-depth test of crimped rounds vs. uncrimped, and the verdict was that crimped were...

Too much crimp on this 6.5x55 round?

I'm experimenting with using the Lee Factory Crimp for 6.5x55 loads. This is a Lapua 139 Scenar over 45 gr of RL 19 at 3.06". The pictures aren't great, but maybe you can discern the crimp. Is it too much?

    Single stage press?

Lee Classic Turret Press I recommend the Lee Classic Turret Press, which is the most versatile for the money. I reload .380, 9mm, .223, 6.5x55, and .308 with mine. When loading semi-progressively, I can churn out 200-250 rounds/hour of handgun ammo. For rifle ammunition, I remove the indexing...

    Bought a New CZ75B - Whoa Rust!

I'm not so sure that the gun is brand new, but old stock. It may be unfired, but the grips look like those that were on a much older model year, maybe 2000 or 2001. I had the same grips on my CZ, which also came with a Fire Point red dot sight. Could this be a Turkish military version?
