Help Please - Hogdon Data for .357 and 38 Special

Start with cast data and work up the load. Plated bullets for .38 and .357 recommend no higher velocity than 1,200 fps. I shoot cast powder coated in .357 to about 1,250 fps but again, their powder coated.

please share your loads in 45-70 as i'm getting ready to start reloading for this fine old girl!

Fired from a 22" Marlin 1895 using a 395 grain cast lead powder coated truncated bullet. Very accurate load. Look at the power factor, this thing would knock a house off the foundation!

    9mm cast boolits - won't chamber

Many years wasted trying to get the Lee molds to produce reliable bullets. I tried everything known to man to get them to work. Same problems your having. I use the Lee push thru sizer to .356 and do NOT use the FCD. I pulled a few bullets after sending them in the FCD and they did in fact get...

imr 3031 load data for 45-70

I have a Marlin 1895 22" lever. I'm using IMR 3031 and 395gr cast powder coated bullets. This should give you and idea of a average velocity. I used 44.7gr of IMR 3031 on this one.

PSA: For Owners of Competition Electronics Chronographs

Lightly skipped a bullet across the body but luckily no damage to my Pro Chrono. I finally upgraded to a Labradar and no longer have to worry about wounding it.

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

I have a 1980 Marlin 39A .22 rifle. I just purchased a rear Skinner peep sight and a Skinner front blade. Unfortunately still shooting low so I have to order a taller Skinner rear peep post and hopefully will be good.

Newbie question for .45-70 lever gun reloading

I use the Lee Universal flare die to flare my 45/70 cases. I've seen a few companies advertising they sell a flare insert for the Lee but don't buy it. The Lee Universal already has a big enough flare insert for the 45/70.

    Problem with cast bullets 45/70

I just received the very same mold last week. Same problem and i'm using wheel weight and soft lead with 2% tin. Has always filled molds for me like a charm, not with this one. They cast at .455, completely unacceptable for my 45/70. I threw the mold in the drawer and ordered a NOE 460-396 PB...

    Case lip crush issue

I had the exact same issue and it about drove me crazy figuring it out. I have a Dillon 550B and it turned out to the the lower crank had worn creating some slop so when the plate raised up to the die it was misaligned. Didn't do it everytime but often enough to be a problem. Called Dillon and...

    10mm Goodness

The Bruin has full chamber support. Shoot em' hot if ya gotta! This one has a 6.3" long slide. At first I thought it may make it nose heavy but pleasantly surprised that it's very well balanced and a pleasure to shoot. My first step in to the 10mm arena and I have a feeling not the last. :)

    10mm Goodness

I was finally in a good position to grab the 10mm I've been lusting after for quite some time. Dan Wesson 10mm Bruin. While it stung quite a bit handing over the cash, I've got it and it's mine! Time heals all wounds i've been told. I've had it out to the range twice and it was all smiles...

    Looking for New Target 1911

I found that the best range 1911 for bang for the buck and reliability is a Springfield RO. I have one in both 9mm and .45acp and nary a hitch with either one. Then a step up I favor the Springfield MC Operator in .45acp. The one I always lusted after was a quality Dan Wesson. Last week i filled...

    Odd 9mm case

I've read that the step is to prevent bullet set back. It's said to be safe to reload but if the bullet is seated to deep it will damage the case.

    Hard Cast Bullet Issue

I cast my own and when using the .452 Lee RN mold I was having the same issue as you are. I finally determined it was the ogive design of the bullet that was hanging up the slide from going in to battery. I then purchased a 4 cavity Lyman RN mold and the problem went away completely...

    9mm Carbine...

pwillie, ya might as well get used to it. I have yet to receive any type of definitive answer. These threads usually go all over from the top to the bottom... LOL. You think this is a fine example I dare you to ask the same question regarding 1911's. :p:neener:

9mm black hole (New Cz Skorpion carbine review)

Last week I picked up a CZ Scorpion EVO 3 Carbine. The only other carbine I have is a Marlin 38/357 lever. I've wanted a 9mm carbine for a long time but something else was always on the table. The same day I bought this I ordered some upgrades. First was the Holosun 515C red dot. 50,000 hour...

    Shot my Chronograph today...

Yep, I hit the sky screen post this year. Put a nice U shape in the middle of the post. Luckily no damage to the chrono case. This thread reminds me I need to get some wood dowels. I also have the Bluetooth and dig it. I setup all my shots on my phone before leaving the house. Before I leave...
