Well we made them to hang from a stand so we put an attachment point on the back of them so they angle downwards like 20-30 degrees when hanging. I thought maybe with the downward angle, that they'll be free swinging, and that they're thicker then normal plate targets it might be ok for rifle...
My dad had a little scrap 3/4" AR350, just enough to get two 8" targets, and I was just wondering if anyone knew what calibers I could shoot at it (and at what distances) without messing up the targets.
I'm guessing it'll be just fine for lead bullet handgun stuff but am not sure about...
are the XTP bullets just JHP or are they some special bullet type? I've seen those in my Lyman's manual but wasn't sure exactly what they were so I never looked at the data for them.
Well I tried it out this weekend. First made up a batch with 4.4 gr of hp-38 and OAL of like 1.135 - 1.145, took it to the range and it was noticeably worse accuracy wise compared to the factory UMC stuff I had.
Went home and shortened the OAL to the 1.125-1.135 range and made up another...
My buddy just got into reloading and wants to reload .40S&W
He got a box of 155gr RN FP plated bullets (i think they're Xtreme bullets) but can't find any recipes for them. He's got a pound of 231 powder.
Looked in my lyman's book and hodgdon's online thing but couldnt' find anything...
I've had the HF 4" digital for about 1.5 years now, I think I paid $25....first battery lasted about a year, the thing seems to be working good. Only thing that's kind of annoying is the end of my hand hangs off the back of the caliper (slightly uncomfortable) when using it. If I could do it...
Yeah I'm using the plated bullets, I guess I'll just load up a test batch this weekend and see how they do. I was told to load plated bullets using mid power FMJ loads which is why I used 4.5gr. The 1.115 OAL i was using for 115gr ran with zero issues out of my gun so hopefully 1.125 will do...
I'm relatively new to reloading and have been pretty much just making the same 9mm 115gr RN loads with Berry's bullets and HP-38. The load I've been using has been 4.5gr of powder and an OAL in the 1.110 - 1.115 range.
Wanting to make the switch to 124gr as I'm getting more into...
Thanks for the replies...the comments on not being practical for working up precise loads for 9mm are understood. But I still will likely load various bullet size/types so something that I can just quickly dial to a specific depth depending on which bullets I'm using is worth the money...
I've got a Dillon 550B and use dillon dies and the setup works good once the dies are set. I am wanting to get more into experimenting with different recipes and bullet types though and setting the seating die is definitely a frustrating experience. I want to get one with a micrometer...
thanks for all the replies....I'll probably load up what's in there this weekend and then just make it a point to empty the hopper from now on upon completing a reloading session.
well it's not in the dark...it's near a window that gets hit with sunlight half the day. Well it was for about 6 months...after that I finally put up miniblinds on the window to block light
The powder itself still looks normal....no red color or smell.
I loaded Berry's 115gr with 4.5gr of HP-38 and an OAL of 1.100....they seemed to work alright in my XD. I don't have a chrono but just shooting them I couldn't tell the difference between my round and Remington UMC 115's.
Is this OAL going to cause any issues long term or is my powder...
