What is the last gun that you bought?

Beretta 92FS. Bought so I could train with my duty weapon. The Air Force won't let me practice with their guns more than 90 rds/ year.

    CCW and Public Restrooms

I remove the pistol and set it on the paper holder. Most of them either have a good flat side, or the roll itself will hold the pistol nicely. I do this extremely rarely, like less than once a year. I try to keep #2 restricted to home, and I can't carry at work.

    Gun Shots and Hearing Damage

JellyJar, I'm on your side with this one. I'm only 24 and I've been flying airplanes of all sizes since I was 15, and shooting regularly since I was about 19. I double up when I fly, foamies with David Clark headset. I don't mind spending the extra money on high quality hearing protection for...

Okay now I am really confused (shipping smokeless cartridge arms to your doorstep?)

I always wondered about that one, too. The whole CMP thing seemed too good to be true, till my rifle arrived, that is.

Mature Opinions Needed On Safe Moving

Mine just arrived today. The "professional installation" service offered by Academy in my area is 2 college students in a pickup truck. They did a great job on a 530lb safe with a regular handtruck, and regular old consumer grade tools. When they rolled up, I was worried, but I was impressed...

    What an awesome display.....

That part of the country? Doubt it was less than 300ft, which is still pretty dang low. As for the noise, I know what -130's do to our squadron building at 500ft; don't wanna know what it would do to my house at 300... And I'm glad you enjoy watching it. We enjoy flying it.

    Electronic ear muffs?

I have a pair of Peltor Tactical 6S's and a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sports. Both very good hearing protection. The Peltor's have independent volume control but the HL's feel like they block more sound, and they have an MP3 player input, so not only can you hear everything except the...

    Hiding A Gun Safe?

So, you don't want Susie Homemaker knowing you have guns because she'll tell everyone, but then she keeps her mouth shut while a crew backs a truck up to your front window, breaks the window, throws a chain around your safe, and tears up your lawn trying to drag it out?

When you have your safe delivered...

    What would your solution be?

When you have your safe delivered...

Agreed. I bought my Browning Pro-steel at Academy (pretty much the only operation in town...stupid small town). Their pamphlet offers delivery and bolt-down, but the employees don't seem to know much about it. I told the manager "I want this one." He said, "ok, take this to the register and I'll...

When you have your safe delivered...

Mine is being delivered by a company that also delivers and installs home gyms, so a big box and a truck with exercise equipment on the side of it will probably lead my neighbors to believe that I'm having a Bowflex delivered.

Ye Olde "Sock Stuffed With Rice" method of dehydration

Couple questions... How long does the silica gel work before it needs recharging? does more gel mean it will keep the safe drier for the same amount of time, or keep the same "dryness" for a longer period? The reason I ask is I am in the military and deploy for months at a time. I live...

Have appx $250 budget, what ear protection to get?

I've used the Peltor Tactical 6S and the Howard Leight Impact Sport's and they're both very good. The Peltor's make shooting at indoor ranges comfortable when other muffs required plugs underneath, but they don't get loud enough to hear through plugs when I wear double ears. The Howard Leights...

    Pro Gun Celebrities

I think some folks here are confusing "Pro-gun" with gun owners, hunters (fudds) and people who have used guns, whether on their own, or in their writing/films. R Lee Ermey has been mentioned. I believe he's a Glock spokesman. I remember seeing a video where he talked about getting every model...

    Nice collection of stuff...

So what kind of guns DO you see a need for? Are semi-autos necessary for hunting or target shooting? I don't think you need high-powered rifles for target shooting. It doesn't matter how hard you hit the paper. I seem to remember something about "shall not be infringed."

    Nice collection of stuff...

It was probably silly putty. I also find it interesting that all the ammo would explode in a fire.

    Anyone in Abilene?

I appreciate the offer, but I won't be there in 10 years. The Air Force will have me somewhere else in less than 4 years.

    Anyone in Abilene?

Yes, but I don't think they do anything walk-in. Could be wrong. I've never dealt with them, but I might have to now.

    Anyone in Abilene?

So I'm moving to Abilene this week, and I need some suggestions for ranges, shops, competitive shooting orgs (pretty much anything. Never shot competitively before, but I want to try it out), Anything shooting related in or within, say 45min drive of Abilene. Also, if there are any BBQ joints...

    XDm Whos shot one?

Anyone have experience with the XDm .40? I'm planning on going to the range tomorrow to try out the XD40. I want the capacity of the XDm, but I don't think my local range has one for rent yet. How do the two compare with each other? Everything I've read has me wanting one right now, but I...
