    Wildcats in Kansas

I have had mountain lion tracks cross my tracks in the snow more times than I would guesstimate while hunting in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. And, I have never seen one. Oh, and I have had grizzly tracks follow my tracks a ways as well. That's a whole other feeling.

And, it is not correct. Which I did not know either. Was the point of mentioning it.

Then it would have been a puma concolor as opposed to a felis silvestris or felis lybica . None of which are Bobcats .

    Wildcats in Kansas

I have never studied the different large cats and keep them mostly confused. But, just looking found that there are no native Wild Cats in the Americas. Appears to be little more that a domestic cat on steroids. I have heard people talk about seeing wildcats for years. Probably just throwing...

    NC Turkey Season

For most of my life there were no turkeys here. None. Now they are fairly common. Under government control.

    Forestry for Deer Hunting

If you have any open areas spray it with a mixture of RoundUp and 2-4-D . Maybe 2 ounces of each to the gallon. Then just throw wheat out on it. A lot of it will come up even if you don't scratch the soil. Deer won't kill it even if they graze it down to the ground almost. Of course, it would be...

A little bored until turkey season I suppose.

    Budget vs expensive hunting guns?

You should read forums more. You used too much gun. The shooter with the 22LR just made poor shot placement.:p

    Budget vs expensive hunting guns?

Sometimes I think if I read again that they will never know the difference in what shot them I will shoot myself.

    Budget vs expensive hunting guns?

I passed a 300 yard shot on a mule deer just because it would take half a day to get to him if I killed him.

    Budget vs expensive hunting guns?

Sure, you can hunt successfully with most anything that is functional. I have a neighbor that is rich as three foot up a bull's butt and he hunts with a 303 Enfield when he gets in the mood to hunt. Bought it sometime back for $56 . I like nice guns myself. If I had the excess cash I would own...

    Hearing protection when hunting?

I'm sure it didn't help. But, you chose to blame your hearing loss on shooting when you have no way of knowing what condition your hearing would be if you had never fired a shot. I have fired who knows how many shots with a shotgun with no protection. Probably only a couple with a pistol. Maybe...

    Hearing protection when hunting?

I accept that. But, what does it amount to in the scheme of things ? Some fraction of a percent ? More ? Less ? If you ask an audiologist everything is a nail. But, I'm not oblivious to the idea. If I wanted to hunt with some magnum with a muzzle brake I would likely wear something. But, I...

    Hearing protection when hunting?

Neither are we saying that one shot is good for your ears. But, in the barrage of noise that starts damaging our hearing from the time we are born one shot hunting deer is not significant. For one thing, people I know who have never fired a shot at anything are nearly deaf in their 80's, like...

If that was the case I would not be able to hear it thunder.

    Hearing protection when hunting?

Target shooting or maybe good dove hunts, absolutely. But, one shot at a deer? Don't get carried away.

    Hearing protection when hunting?

Well, just about every older gentleman I know wears some kind of hearing aid. Most of them never hunted to amount to anything. So, yeah wear protection when you shoot. But, also when you mow your grass, run a chainsaw, tractor, or anything of the kind.

Elk mount as checked baggage (United)

I think if I had anybody there to take it back I would try it anyway. Chances are they will take it and not say a word. Or not.

Him. I have had a huge farm leased for years. I don't mind taking people. But, I don't want it to become my job. And, it will if you are not careful. I definitely don't want to take money from somebody . He may be entirely different. Don't know.

Could be that he simply does not want to be obligated. Sometimes feeling obligated becomes a weight. So, if he says he doesn't want anything I think I would leave it alone.
