I've seen this happen before with factory loads. My example happened during a Divison of Wildlife qual. I will post a pic later.

I have really enjoyed the 340 M&P. It has served its purpose without fail. Despite this, I find myself carrying a 3" model 60 with C/T and soon (hopefully) a XS Big Dot or something comparable. Since I live in the Colorado Rockies along with big and small critters running around (two legged or...
I am not looking for the boot style. What I would like to see is the combat style but in ebony. They will be going on the 3" 60 and a boot style doesn't feel right to me. Any other thoughts?
I have been searching for a good set of ebony (smooth or checkered) combat stocks for a J frame. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There doesn't seem to be any makers of such a product or at least I can't seem to find them...
One person on THR had S&W set up his 686 to accept both . They set it up to allow switching of the cylinders without much effort. No details. You might try giving S&W a call and see what they can do for you.
Welcome to THR!
As was said, you drive a hard bargain. You brought up your concerns and one was price. Am I to assume money can be an issue? If this is the case, I recommend a 9mm. Ammunition is cheap. Not as cheap as .22lr but for a defensive round, it is as inexpensive as its going to get.

Get a model 60 and enjoy. I never kept track of how many rounds I have put through mine, but it has been many and it is still pitch'n lead. If I were to do it again, I'd pick up a 640 solely because of the internal hammer.
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this...
My personal opinion is that the price of firearms (particularly new ones) is most affected by the rising cost of metals and the diminishing value of the dollar. Put them together and you have doubled and tripled price tags.
Investment guns are also...
I can only speak from my experience with my M60. Sweet snub. IWB and OWB are my preferred methods for transport. It has preformed flawlessly through countless rounds. If I was going to do it again though, I would go with a M640 for obvious reasons. Just my two cents.
I use and abuse my S&W 60 and it just won't quit. It is my CCW and fun gun. Easy to shoot and has never failed me. I am pondering a sister 640 snub for a little variety. Well built and great to shoot.
Not to discount your guy's knowledge, but my last visit to Phoenix in April yielded a different story. I had heard about the law that denied concealed carry into establishments that sold alcohol for on sight consumption so I called the local police department for clarification. They told me that...
I think .357 mag will be in use until hand operated death rays are commercially available. I am 27 years old and I sold my plastics a few years back and bought .357 revolvers. I am not easily wowed, but I have recognized the great versatility, economics, and cool factor of shooting the venerable...
