OKO Red Dot help - any place to get service/parts/mount?

Got an OKO Red Dot as part of a deal for an AR, and when I removed the red dot and inspected it, it appears that the underside plastic is a bit cracked, and that the four areas that clamp on to the rail of the AR are somewhat stripped, loose, and one housing for the screw is cracked/broken...

Approximate value of this AR upper

I have an opportunity to buy new AR rifle for what appears to be a decent price. I only want the complete lower from it. What could I reasonably expect to get from this upper, complete? If you wouldn't mind breaking each major component down as well regarding value, I'd appreciate that too...

    Riflemaker donates to Obama?

He's disabled his Dealer web page - worried that they are gonna get Zumboed, too. Seriously, a gun company donating money to Obama is like a Jewish Temple contracting with Hitler to install ovens in their kitchens. [snip] This is in my humble opinion beyond the pale.

Tikka T3 vs Whitetail Hunter 595

Willymike makes many of the points I would make. I have a M695 in .30-06, and a T-3 in .223 and .308. My M695 has a synthetic stock. Honestly, for the range and use as a varmint rifle/tromping around the woods for hours gun, I'd take the T-3. But for everything else it is the M695 by a...

About to Buy a Tikka, a Question About Rings, Scope, and Barrel Break-In...

Ah, Tikka - a subject near and dear to my heart. I will never own another bolt action rifle that isn't a Tikka. I used the Tikka Optilock mounts on my M695 .30-06, with a Zeiss 3-9x40 with German #4 reticle on my recent safari to Africa. A deadly combination, and I took 9 animals from ranges...

Recommend a good value hunting knife

Hmm, say under $75 - honestly, if I can get a decent one for under $50 that would be even better - I don't plan on using it a lot, but I'd just like to find one that is a good value for the money - sort of like the Victorinox brands of chef's knives - about 1/2 the cost of the Henckels and...

Recommend a good value hunting knife

I have a Buck knife with curved blade, about 3"-3.5" long blade, half of it serrated. I feel like, for hunting small-medium game, I might need something else. Maybe something with a gut-hook, no serration, similar length blade. What is a good value (i.e. not ultra-cheap, but good quality...

Woot! My zebra skin is done!

I wish I would have had the chance to try giraffe and elephant - heard both are excellent. But the zebra . . . oh my. If you ever get a chance to go back, eat all you can! BTW - in Namibia, on the coast at Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, the oysters are extraordinary!

Woot! My zebra skin is done!

"Just a curious question. Have you ever ate Zebra? Nice Hide by the way" YES - I couldn't get enough of it - bar none, the best meat I have ever had in my life. I ate zebra steaks 3 days in a row and was still wanting more. Top notch - better than filet mignon.

Woot! My zebra skin is done!

My taxidermist in Namibia just sent me an email saying my skulls, horns, and skins will be done by end of month and shipped soon - probably have them by Christmas. I was concerned for my zebra skin, due to the bullet holes, but it looks incredible! I can't wait! PS - for details...

    Romanian Trainer Rifle problem

Damn, it is still doing it occasionally. I took the firing pin out. What would you suggest I use to clean the gunk off everything, and could I also do something to the flat surfaces of the firing pin that would "hone it" down some?

    Romanian Trainer Rifle problem

www.rimfirecentral.com has a section on romanian trainers, if your hammer doesn't fix any other problems, lol LOL - I'm sometimes amazed at the problems my hammer solves AND gets me into!

    Romanian Trainer Rifle problem

Actually, I fixed it! After I posted this I figured that maybe I could take out just the firing pin - looked like a small pin was holding it in, so I took a punch and started whacking at it. This apparently loosened the firing pin up enough so that now it isn't getting stuck - tested it out...

    Romanian Trainer Rifle problem

I have a 1969 Romanian Trainer rifle. I've never been able to get it to feed rounds from the magazine properly. They always get "hung up" in the process of going from the mag to the bore. I thought it was the mag, but I just got a brand new one and am still having this problem. I think I...

Turning a Mossberg 500 Defender into a hunting shotgun - how to?

Well, I just got a mag tube, spring, and follower for $36.50 And I have some very nice used 28" barrels that have been offered to me from anywhere from $30 to $65 So, for under $100 it looks like I can do this thing, which would save me a bit of money, not to mention not having to pay for...

Turning a Mossberg 500 Defender into a hunting shotgun - how to?

At work right now, so will have to look at it tomorrow. I think it does not have a choke at all. This is a picture of it: http://personalsecurityzone.com/cgi-win/order/prodlist.exe/PSZ/?Template=ProdDetail.htm&ProductID=20491

Turning a Mossberg 500 Defender into a hunting shotgun - how to?

"Buy a barrel for that appropriate mag length add dowel to limit rounds to the hunting legal amount Wah lah!" From what I understand, there is only one barrel (28") for this length of tube, and perhaps one rifled slug barrel. Can't find any that are used, so would have to buy new.

Turning a Mossberg 500 Defender into a hunting shotgun - how to?

Yeah, from what I understand since I have the 7 shot extended mag tube, it mates up with my current barrel in a different way. The tube and the barrel are the exact same length. But I think a 4-6 round mag tube is OK with any of the other barrels.

Turning a Mossberg 500 Defender into a hunting shotgun - how to?

OK, I have a 7-shot Mossberg 500 12ga. I would like to turn it into a hunting shotgun that can use a longer than 20" choked barrel. From what I understand, I will have to change the barrel AND the magazine tube, correct? Will I also need to get a new mag spring, end-knob (hopefully one...

First hunting shotgun - advice needed - thanks!

Wife and I are interested in going out small game hunting, and many of the areas we are looking at only allow shotguns. We'd like to get an inexpensive shotgun for this - type of action doesn't really matter too much to me - I just want to get into a shotgun that doesn't suck for as little...
