    45acp ammo for woods carry

You mean the bear bell and pepper spray being sold like crazy at every store won't work? :scrutiny: hahaha I guess the same people marketing those things probably think you should just tell the bear "stop or I'll shoot" or even worse, " leave me alone or I'll get my lawyer" ( that might just...

    Plastic vs. Steel pistol

Does anyone make a Titanium framed gun? Ti barrel for that matter? It'd probably lighter than polymer and much stronger than steel. If only my car and guns were Titanium, I'd never need another....:D

    Plastic vs. Steel pistol

When the argument becomes "which looks best" it's about as ridiculous as asking which color shoes are best to jog in.... Looks are a personal preference (I myself like reps of older cowboy guns in that category ) , but practicality is another thing. I'm currently shopping for an XD45, which...

NH man gets 3-6 for threatening a trespasser with gun

I'd like to hear THR members thoughts on this case. I'll link an article about Ward Bird who is currently in prison after a person trespassed onto his property, ignoring multiple postings and after refusing to leave, he threatened the trespasser with a gun. I think it's appalling that he's in...

    Loading handgun shotshells?

for 45 colt, I use a 7/16" punch and heavy card stock ( backs from pads of paper ) , a card over the powder, fill case with shot allowing enough room for a card over the shot, crimp brass around the card and top with elmers glue. They dry up perfectly and seem to have an indefinite shelf life so...

Looking for 12ga #0 buck handload data

    What I'm considering so far is the lee dipper 2.5cc ( 18.5 gr Amer Select ) , 10 #0 buck ( 1 1/8th oz )

Looking for 12ga #0 buck handload data

Maybe I'm just confused from the Alliant data..... I found a load, but it just specifies "shot weight; 1 1/8 oz" and doesn't say what size shot? Maybe the weight, not the size is what's critical? Then I'd think I can weigh 1 1/8 oz buck and start there?

Looking for 12ga #0 buck handload data

I've been reloading handgun ammo for years, but just got an old Lee 12ga handloader and a big bag of federal 2 3/4" shells with plenty of #0 buck and Win209 primers. The only powder I currently have is American Select, just wondering if there's a decent load I can do for target and home...

    Shooting game

    Real black or pyrodex??

Thanks Articap, yeah, it could be I'm thinking of 777 too....I have seen one of the subs get wet and become a slimy mush. The fact that the subs use KCLO4 ( potassium perchlorate ) is reason enough to stay away. I'll take sulfur smoke over chorine compounds any day :barf: That's probably a big...

    Real black or pyrodex??

This has come up before, definitely interestin..... Pyrodex only came into existence when there became a demand for powder not classified by BATF as "explosive" I believe late 1970's.... Shipping, production, storage and insurance fees went way up due to a federal reclassification, which is...

Why do you store your BP guns loaded?

...but can a modern gun catch the robber on fire if the bullets miss them? ....

    Powder's Dry..

+1 on making your own BP.....I haven't bought any store bought for 3 or 4 years now. Get willow wood for free for charcoal and get high grade KNO3 and Sulfur averaging $3 a pound..... sure can't complain for $3 a pound BP.....but then I end up using more ( especially on July 4th when we light...

gotta sell a rifle... Uberti Henry .45 with box

Hate to see it go, but have to sell it and replace it someday ( that's what I gotta tell myself to make this easier...hahah ) Bought this from Taylors Firearms 3 years ago, Uberti Henry with sling swivels. Standard rifle model...paid $1300.... Includes box and papers. Rifle in in great shape. I...

    WOW!!...totally impressed!

+1 on hot soapy water.....it doesn't hurt the gun if you properly dry it all after and treat with oil ( which displaces any moisture if present ) ..... My guns look good as new, even under a magnifier....metal is just fine if kept dry and oiled after the cleaning process.

Oh yeah....Marvel Mystery oil is great too, planning to stick to that once the rem oil runs out...

Anyone assemble their gun with bore butter only?

wouldn't the "Butter Flavor"crisco have salt??? I'm sure no one wants to be applying salt on their guns!! I use a mix of my olive oil/ beeswax and I stir in some Rem oil to thin it out. Great slippery lube that stays where you put it...
