A Question Was Asked In Another Forum About Smith 27s

If somebody were to up & ask you, right to your very face, "What's the big deal about S&W 27s?", your response would be...? Denis

    Was this a thing?

God, guts & guns. Heavy on the guts in those guys. Denis

    Marlin 1894 Loading Gate Issue

Generally, you can lighten the gate tension somewhat & hone around the rough inside port edges, then just load the gun. I have never, in 40 years of levergunning, gotten that staging silliness to work reliably. :) Denis

    CZ Sharptail Single-Trigger Double

My pet coachgun is an old Savage Stevens 311R. That one will never go, but I'm liking not having to fiddle with moving my finger around between triggers on this CZ. Don't really want to get up over a grand for a coachgun I wouldn't be using all that much. Denis

    CZ Sharptail Single-Trigger Double

Huglu's done some good stuff in the past, and CZ's hammer coachgun was one of the best I've ever tried. Liking what I find on this hammerless, and the pricing isn't quite down into Chinese levels. :) I'm liking the monobloc, mechanical trigger, and coil springs. I specifically like that single...

    CZ Sharptail Single-Trigger Double

I've got the coachgun here on loan, appears all GO. I'll probably be buying it, was wondering about other Sharptail experiences. Thanks. Denis

Anybody having any kind of problem at all with these? Denis

How many of your guns do you modify in some way?

Most, one way or another. Most guns put out today are kit guns, 90% finished by their makers. Grips are a minimum, usually, with sights, action work, etc. as needed to fit my requirements. Occasionally a full-blown rebuild. Denis

Another LGS and an interesting M10

I've got a J snub set up with a Tyler T. Kinda like that one, too. And a 4-inch pencil barrel with a TT. Denis

    Taurus Spectrum .380

Thought it was quite clear that in this thread about the Spectrum, where I specifically mentioned the Spectrum by name, I was referring to the Spectrum. :) Denis

    Taurus Spectrum .380

The philosophy behind the Spectrum is not a range gun, a regular weekend gun, or a "training" gun. It is, pure & simple, an absolutely no-snag, lightweight, drop in the pocket, haul out quick, and fire simple, with no sights to hang up, no safety to forget, close-in popgun. Designed for...

Another LGS and an interesting M10

I did take the grips off when I acquired it. An old buddy I've known for 40-something years was selling it, inherited it from his grandpa who carried it in WW1. I was looking for the serial number on a grip panel to show him, he thought that was cool. We were the first to see that penciled...

Centerfire leverguns - Browning BLR vs. Henry

When Henry started up in the 1990s, they used the old Erma .22 levergun design to base their introductory entry-level rimfires on, since Lou Imperato had been involved with its development & was an early importer to the US. Over the years, Henry has hugely expanded, and added to the rimfire...

Centerfire leverguns - Browning BLR vs. Henry

Speedo, I jump in all over on other companies when I have something useful to offer. I get into these Henry things because they are, frankly, so hated & so lied about. I've worked with Henry products since the late 1990s. I know some of their people, including their GM & their owner. I happen...

Centerfire leverguns - Browning BLR vs. Henry

New, I don't get my info from Cabela's, I get it direct from Henry's general manager. His name is Andy Wickstrom, and you are welcome to call him at the Wisconsin plant & ask if he knows me. As for being a Henry apologist, I have said dozens of times over the years that I truly do not care if...
