    Define "Collecting."

Does it really matter? There are those who collect cars, stamps, tobacco pipes, knives, sea shells, wine, coins, art/paintings, etc. Some collections can be more useful than others, such as cars or knives (if functional); the same with firearms. There can be both intrinsic or historical...

Why don't they make smaller RMR sights for handguns?

Doctor Optics has one of the smaller ones on the market: ROCK6

swapped out stabilizing braces on my AR15 pistol

Some work better than others. I actually like those such as the Tailhook (original and Mod 2) braces. Ironically, they work much like the old SPAS 12 shotgun and I've found they work extremely well if doing drills from inside a vehicle as it gives you much more support if using one-hand...

    Well, Its Official

With the hundreds of thousands of gun laws already on the books, the opposition is because you can't legislate-away or eliminate deranged or criminal behavior through laws or focusing a minority-report enforcement on non-criminals. Part of the risk of living in a free society is simply dealing...

swapped out stabilizing braces on my AR15 pistol

Not really. I have the SBA4 and still prefer the SBA3. It does look more "stock like" for that retro "commando" look, but it's a little awkward and IMHO, not really an upgrade. If someone was asking, I would tell them to get the SBA3 over the SBA4 if you want better function than looks. ROCK6

Optimal 5.56 AR Pistol Barrel Length

I know BCM only offers the 11.5" and their reasons are sound, but I just don't buy the benefits of dwell time is really that significant. While even the 10-11.5" barrels are still loud if unsuppressed, my 8" 5.56mm can be quite concussive. For me, I just really like the 10.5" length the best...

    Concealed backpack carry...

The only reason it’s so high is to not interfere with the pack’s waistbelt, which is where the majority of the pack’s weight should be carried. For multiday, longer backpacking distances, you figure out quickly what works and doesn’t when it comes to carrying a pack. While comfort is nice...

    Concealed backpack carry...

Pocket carry just isn't an option for me when backpacking; I want nothing in my pockets but a very small folder like the Spyderco Dragonfly I carry. Anything in my pocket is going to be problematic trekking longer distances...I've tried. There are a lot of options available, even for concealed...

    Concealed backpack carry...

Just finished up a 106 mile (un-supported/no resupply) section of the Appalachian Trail (GA/NC). I planned for 9 days, but finished in 7 days and a wake up. Weather was great, so a couple days I was able to add a few extra miles with the longest day being 20 miles in about 9 hours... A lot of...

Quest for the "ideal for you" carry gun

Interesting thread! My very first handgun purchased was right after I graduated and received my Army Commission, way back in 1994. I picked up a Sig P228 since the Army had recently adopted it. It was my "carry" gun for a few years...and I still have it. I've been carrying various guns over...

    Most Underrated Pistol

Of the two I own, I really think the Remington RM380 and the Steyr C/M/A series. While Remington damaged their reputation, the RM380 is an excellent design (purchased design?) and right-sized .380. Steyr has always sucked with marketing, but I have an older M9-A1 that has been exceptional. ROCK6

    Ruger American 7.62X39 owners

Tagged for interest. I've been wanting a CZ 527 carbine in 7.62x39 for a long time, but I've heard some promising stuff from Ruger's American Ranch. I like the size, the weight, the price, and that it uses the same magazine as the Mini 30. A light LPVO on it would be my option, but interested...

    Which Pistol Combo?

I have all four (and more). I'm really liking the P365 as a newer CCW, but I would like mag compatibility between my duty and sub-compact pistols and the G17 and G26 meet that criteria. If you went with the P320 and their sub-compact size, it would be a little more comparable. I shoot them...

    Weapon Of Choice

The documentary was a waste of my time, but I did have time to kill. Buzznrose summed it up, but I agree that the crap about Chicago should have mentioned the failed leadership as well...bait & hook documentary for pushing a very anti-gun narrative as usual. As to Glock? They're still quite...

Help me diagnose and fix my EDC

I would immediately replace your recoil spring to initiate troubleshooting. But as mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to replace the other springs as well. I can't recall specifically, but when I bought my CM9, it said to replace the recoil spring after X-number of rounds. I thought it was around...

The Statistics of Red Flag Laws

This is the crux after suffering from a Red Flag confiscation. You need to prove you're mentally competent, prove you're innocent of a crime you never committed, and that you are no threat to society. The whole intent isn't about safety of you, the public, or preventing crime...once your...

Lindsey Graham: Democrats, GOP Can ‘Come Together’ for Gun Confiscation Law

This is such a slippery slope. While no one here is advocating for someone who has been adjudicated as mentally incompetent to have access to firearms, the slippery slope is that defining mental illness is not a simple test and we are now looking at bureaucrats, police, an ex-spouse...

My advice to people just getting into carry

I've found the exact opposite, especially when it comes to training. Those who choose the smaller pocket pistols do very little training and shooting. I've gone so far as to say that such pocket pistols are for more experienced shooters. I've found the more people shoot, the more likely they...

Agree or Disagree with 'Gun Sanctuaries'?

I agree. It does sound nice as it throws the whole "sanctuary" status back in the face of progressives, but it's purely symbolic and not something I would test. Sure, more of the NM counties have established their jurisdictions as "sanctuary" counties against the state's anti-gun measures, but...

    Seecamp LWS-380 for DEEP Concealment

Man, that Seecamp is small compared to the P32! I will eventually pick up a Seecamp in 32, but it's really hard to beat the weight of the P32; half the weight of the smaller Seecamp! I still like the aesthetics and looks of the Seecamp. Are the newer versions running okay with a wider...
