It may suck but I say that's a pretty fair law.

    Feel like venting?

If any of you have read Freakonomics, he makes the best argument about how irrational the fear of someone owning a handgun for hd is. The fact that more children die each year from swimming pool drownings than gun related accidents says it all right there. Where is all the uproar about people...

Went into condition orange for first time today. Rate me - overreact?

I live and work in downtown Nashville. I have had at least 30 encounters were someone dressed like that has approached me. They're all homeless and all have a ridiculous story about why they need some change. Like others have said, its hard to know, and you probably should just trust your...

Home Invasions Up In Your Area?

I understand, but when you live in an apartment like me you don't have the option to add security systems. My dog will hear anybody fiddling with a window or door long before me and wake me up, thus giving me more time to be prepared. A good watchdog is a huge priority for me, even over a gun.

Home Invasions Up In Your Area?

"She was talking about buying a guard dog for protection and I told her that a Mossberg is easier to care for and cheaper than a dog." Yeah but a Mossberg won't wake you up, if you are a heavy sleeper like me. Seems like you need both.

Ever growing gun collection for a newbie

BlindJustice, thanks for the message. My sig p226 is actually a .40 S&W. I wasn't too concerned with the price of ammo since most of my range time goes to the Beretta. 525 rnd boxes of federal .22lr are amazing. The Beretta ended up costing me 600 bucks with 3 mags included. I know that's...

Ever growing gun collection for a newbie

Thanks for the comments guys, I actually was considering a 870 until my uncle told me I should definitely for the Mossberg. The Beretta is probably my favorite considering how cheap it is to shoot on top of hitting the bullseye every time.

Ever growing gun collection for a newbie

Been a long time shooter but just started buying guns about a 2 years ago these are my first 3 purchases, any thoughts? Trying to decide what's next, I've been eyeing a Mossberg 500 or a .45 in either a 1911 or P220. From top to bottom: Beretta 87 Target Sig P226 w/ Crimson Trace Grips S&W 686

A question for those employed in the firearms industry

The facts are that a higher percentage of Republicans voted in favor of the ban than Dems did The Senate vote on the ban was 95 in favor, 4 against, and 1 abstention. 50/53 (94.3%) Democrats voted for the legislation. 45/47 (95.7%) Republicans voted for the ban. Obama wants to make the federal...

    Trade p226 for a 1911

Thanks for the advice guys. To answer a previous poster I have definitely shot a 1911 before. The grip on a 1911 is different from my p226 but it still feels good, and while I like the looks, that's not the reason for a trade. Yeah I'm definitely looking in the $1250 price range. I can't...

    Trade p226 for a 1911

Money is tight and I really want a 1911 .45 ACP, so much so that I am considering trading in my P226 .40 S&W SCT with Crimson Trace laser grips for one. 1) Do you guys think I will regret trading this gun in for a 1911 2) If not what do you think a fair price would be for the trade in, I'm...

    SA 1911 Mil Spec

There is only a $100 to $150 difference for new models as far as I can see. I would love to save 150 bucks if the Mil Spec is a great gun and I like the way it looks. It seemed like everyone recommended them but as I said there were a lot of regrets in that one forum. I know some people...

    SA 1911 Mil Spec

I was recently reading through the "Most Disappointing Gun Purchases" thread and the Springfield Armory 1911 Mil Spec came up several times which suprised me. It seems like in other threads people often recommend the SA 1911. So which is it, is this a hit or miss purchase? I ask because...

    Internal Locks

Yeah that's why I thought of seatbelts actually, my grandma, would tell me stories of her friend actually cutting the seatbelts out of their car when they were first introduced. I would just need some actually failure rate statistics before I demonize the locks. As I think we can all agree...

    Internal Locks

I never actually lock it, as its just me and my wife, so I have no worries about unlocking it in a hurry, but I could think of some scenarios were it might be nice to be able to lock it. I just don't see why it makes everyone so angry. They make you have seatbelts in a car. What is the...

    Internal Locks

I'm a relative newbie, so far I've got a Sig p226 .40 S&W and I recently bought a S&W 686-6 snub nose. My question is why everyone dislikes the locking feature on the newer 686s. Other than a slightly ugly key hole on the frame I see no reason why being able to lock my gun is a big deal...
