Maybe I should have titled the thread "I don't crimp .45ACP on purpose"!
The papers that came with the Redding dies said to back it off 1 turn to avoid crimping, oh well. If I'm crimping a little bit that's good I guess...
Let me know if what I'm doing is okay :D Please.
First picture, a once-fired brass that has been cleaned and resized.
Second picture, an expanded case with 8.8-9.0gr AA#5 and a 185gr projectile that I pushed on by hand. This is how far down it goes with the amount I've expanded the...
won't i be thanking myself if i have a nice ringing to drown out my nagging wife?
what do you guys mean it doesn't block sound? i can hear that it does. when i have them seated properly i have to read lips if people aren't talking loudly. i can hear the loud obnoxious crunching sound when...
"As for spent .22 casings, at first-look it would seem to me that they're a poor choice for two reasons: they're inflexible and metal conducts sound waves. If they're not flexible then you're only partially covering the opening to your eardrum. If they conduct sound then this is much less...
"...no protection for .22lr rifles...blow out spent .22lr casings and use them..." You must be very young. It's daft. Empty cases do nothing to protect your hearing. 10 or 20 years from now, you'll be wishing you used proper hearing protection.
You don't need electronic muffs or double...
no protection for .22lr rifles, foam earplugs for everything else.
i REALLY need electronic muffs. i'm a little forgetful and have been forced to picked up and blow out spent .22lr casings and use them
you have to be careful doing that, but they work just about as good as foam earplugs...
my manual just has a diagram of the case, with a length of 1.760.
but everything worked just fine. i gave the cases a bath in hot water and dish soap, rinsed them off real good and they are sitting out in the sun now.
going to pick up some primers in a bit, so stay tuned for...
it's assorted. i can get some actual headstamps on here later if you like.
anyway, i got ANOTHER depth gauge+shell holder 'kit'. this one had the right #4 shell holder, the first one i bought had a #3, even though the package said 223.
irritating, but now i'm in business. it is cutting...
i laid about 50 of them out in a perfect row with the mouths facing me. gave them a light even coat, rotated them 180 degrees, and repeated. i waited 5 minutes exactly and rubbed them down with my fingers like you described.
i have no idea what happened. they were all a little tight from...
i chucked the cutter/depth gauge into a cordless drill just to see if it would work, but it trims the case too short. i think that shell holder/lock stud stops the small protrusion at the end of the depth gauge from going too far. so, i think i need to run back up to the store and see if they...
thanks for the replies, guys!
i used the one-shot case lube when the case got stuck in my new dimension hornady die. i was real anal about everything and it still got stuck bad. oh well.
okay, these two things don't have to do with each other, but i thought it'd be better to throw both 'noobie' questions in one thread.
1. i bought a Lee cutter + lock stud and a Lee depth gauge + shell holder for my 223 (it says 223 on the package). well, i can't figure it out. the shell...
i love all these pictures guys, thanks a lot.
wnycollector, thanks for the offer! you guys are real helpful. i think the rubber would do a better job of keeping the gun in my sweaty hands better. but thanks!
elvishead, what are they?
i've been reading around and uncle mike's boot...
square butt guntech. really appreciate the offer, you may get a PM :D
sun195, this guy agrees with you http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/Getting%20a%20Grip%20on%20J%20Frames.htm
my j-frame model 36 is getting more and more use lately as all my automatics are giving me issues :barf:
after a range session (150 rounds usually) my right pinky (right handed) is pretty sore from the butt of the gun resting on it and me squeezing. i also have to re-grip often because of...
