I was with Dave when he got to shoot his new old Colt and I had the opportunity to shoot a few cylinders of .38 special with it. Fantastic SA trigger pull, very light. And revolver shoots to point of aim.
I've had one for a year and shot all calibers. When I shoot 9mm I don't bother with a moon clip, but push the fired brass out with a stick. This works fine with brass cases, but steel cases are hard to eject so I advise shooting only brass cased 9mm ammo.
Excellent post, thanks.
I have a P1 with the reinforcing nut in the frame from the 1980s. Haven't shot it in quit a while probably because I shoot its offspring the Beretta 92 when I'm not shooting revolvers.
Trigger pull on mine is pretty good, probably better than a Smith J frame.
Also consider a 856, it's only a .38 special, but is a six shot.
Firing .357 magnum in small revolvers is not a very pleasant experience.
Another vote for a .357/.38 special revolver such as a S&W 686 plus 7 shot. My home defense gun is loaded with the old FBI load. +P LSWCHP 158 grain .38 special.
Ideally your friend would learn basic handgun marksmanship with a .22 and then shoot his .357/.38.
To the best of my knowledge when S&W put the M&P2 on the market the !.0 was discontinued. If you really want one I'd either get a police trade in or find someone that wants to sell theirs. Mags for the !.0s and 2.0s are interchangeable.
I put 150 rounds thru a new Taurus G3C. The last 24 of the rounds were HP while the rest were ball, both 115 grain and 124 grain. No problems at all. Sights out of the box were dead on using a combat hold.
Glad to see a positive report on the SD9VE. I've always thought that it's an excellent pistol with very good ergonomics and accuracy. The primary complaint has always been the trigger, but people don't understand that if you treat it like a DA revolver trigger it's fine. It's heavy for a...
Tests with a 4 inch barrel needs to be done, but it is good to know what shots from a snubby will do I suspect most folks who carry a revolver carry a snobby.
Thanks for the info.
DA only for me, mostly carry a 642, but do have a 640-1 and 640-2 that get carried occasionally. Just purchased a Taurus 856 snub that is DA only. Like the extra shot, might become the most carried. I should mention that I carry holstered in my front pocket.
