Looking for advice on 10.5" slim handguards. There's several Midwest Ind. offerings that seem to meet my needs.
I guess I'm not sure if I'd ever have any need for m-lok positions beyond the 3,6,9? and If QD sockets are that valuable to have near muzzle instead of just by receiver? Slim line...
There is just noticeable bolt contact wear with barrel face. I take that as a good sign?
I did discover the firing pin spring was broken in two pieces and thus a shorter OAL than I see in pictures. Perhaps that is a contributing element.
I’ll order a new FP spring. FP appears in good order...
My PSA Ar9 doesn’t get any primer strikes (ammo is fine on other guns). I verified bcg/firing pin seem to be working (shoots a pencil out barrel).
Must be a headspace issue? The barrel is a Foxtrot Mike replacement. Any tips of what went wrong? Clearly I am not a gunsmith this barrel was put...
The real question is you do like DA/SA? I had the blued aluminum frame variant 5904. Never an issue. Didn't care for the decocker/safety or the direction and decided to stay striker based.
These 3rd gens have a positive reputation. If I had extra money id totally keep a 5906 around. Too heavy...
I've done a uspsa match with lead with traditional lube in a g19 - no problems.
Key is correctly sized projectiles for barrel. Under sized equals leading.
I now exclusively load my 9mm with cast powder coayed lead projectiles and wont look back. Very happy.
RCS Morrigan. Raven concealment makes professional grade gear. This is a bargain and useable iwb and aiwb. I bought one and am recommend it.
I've run kydex and leather/kydex hybrids in glock and m&p platforms.
11.7c per round.
I cast and powder coat and use free .223 I convert. This requires free lead and of course time. I would never have built or bought a 300blk otherwise.
I run a PRO and 4 trs-25 or PA micro dots on various ARs. I will say I notice variation on the dot clarity and size on the budget optics. All work and hold zero.
My opinion: pro for duty and serious training (or other aimpoint models)
Trs-25 or PA microdot are sufficient for toys and some...
Savage rascal. After checking out several options this was the one under the Christmas tree last year for my youngest. Happy with the choice. We like the weight, adjustable trigger, the safety and bolt cocking and even the peep sight. The Henry was a bit heavy for my son.
Buy with confidence if you go with a stainless or nickel plated plated model. I've seen rougher finished phosphate models choke however.
I would purchase my cmmg stainless all over again. Cmmg upgraded the extractor on mine to eject unfired rounds. It's fed and fired thousands without a jam...
BCM gunfighter charging handle I like the med. and large.
Once you upgrade from stock you won't go back. I'm not a huge gizmo guy but these are everything they are claimed to be. The CH is the only part you use at least as much as your trigger.
No more claw only and a better than original...
I reload 300blk for 10.8c ea. round in my 8.25" ar pistol with sig brace.
That's why I shoot it. I convert brass and cast my rounds and powder coat. no gas check. I want training rounds not hunting or KD.
I've used and been around ak pistols and short 5.56 - no thanks! In supressed the above...
Thanks for all the responses I am learning a lot trying to get started.
I'm leaning towards starting with the .309 sizer (my cast boolits are .312 unsized) as if barrels a little tight this will be less risk and lessen the concern of shaving my powder coated projectiles!
Maybe I should...
I am fresh out of machinist friends owning and knowing how to use the above tools ;-)
I noticed my slugs drop easily all the way down into fired unsized 30-06 and .308
cases - not that it gives me new info other than my slugs are smaller than other 30 throats
I did shoot it before slugging using subsonic cast handloads but did not test for accuracy but function only being my first pistol gas system.
My real concern is I still don't know if should buy a .309 or a .311 sizing die. (The cast rounds used were only .308 provided to me).
I read about wrapping slug somehow and measuring - I don't have bendable feeler wrap. I tried using cut alum. can on suggestion but don't trust how right that is concerning fit to slug.
I got .312 with the aluminum wrapped around but subtracting double the aluminum a thickness I still get...
I have put both cast bullets and 00 buck through my 300blk barrel in attempt at slugging. Not sure if cast bullets can be used, but thought I would try! I get same exact results as when using pure lead balls deformed and pushed through.
Several slugs fed from both ends are measuring .3045 max...
I've had him touch 3 triggers. The first two lets just say malfunctioned and had to be returned or otherwise destroyed. Third time I got a properly functioning ar trigger that feels great and breaks clean. At the advertised weight. IMO a smith should not modify a stock trigger in an ar without...
