    .243 win question

thanks for the hits. i was talking to a local guy and he suggested headspace issues. I can chamber a never fired piece of brass like butter but once fired they are too tight. Again the sierra manual states 40.8 as max with imr 4350 so im under max, plus primers look great no bulging or rounded...

    .243 win question

Hey there I was hoping someone could give me some ideas with an issue I have. I have a remington 700 that was once a 22-250 and since has been rebarreled for a 243 and I'm assuming all the work that would make this conversion operate. I'm loading a sierra 107 hpbt in front of 40.gr of imr4350 in...

    lee turret press

Have any of you had your 4 hole turret press over index through the 4 step process? I've loaded somewhere in the 2000 to 3000 loads since I bought it and it recently started over indexing only on the powder through stage. It only does it occasionally maybe twice in 100 rounds. Any adjustments...

    357 sig guidance

Call me lazy but the search for my question had many pages of responses and not any quality answers. Do you have to treat the 357 sig like a rifle cartrigde? I mean case trimming, deburring, lube,etc... the great attraction for me to reload straight wall pistol rounds is the 4 step process on my...

Lee Classic Turret: Will I need to lube cases with these dies?

I load straight wall pistol cases and if I feel that the deprime stage is a little tough on the up and down stroke I hit the cases with real quick squirt of hornady or frankford arsenal aerosal lube. It probably isn't necessary but it makes them a lot smoother. No reason to make reloading...

    ruger P345 help

I have two 45s a Taurus Pt 1911 and Ruger p345. The Pt 1911 eats all reloads I've made but the ruger tends to jam when expelling the spent cases. I've tried light loads and hot ones. I've changed powders and overall lengths. I am using mixed casings cci 300 large primers and have used unique...

    more guidance please

I also am leaning towards unique but it meters so poorly through Lee powder measure but I do like the results thus far.

    more guidance please

In general do you want to use fast powders with heavy bullets or light bullets? I'm loading 9mm 124gr, 40 155gr, and 45 200gr. Unique is filling cases past half so volume is more than W231, but slower burning. I have titegroup which is fastest of the three but have yet to try any loads which...

    unique loads

I pulled up alliant's own data base and they suggest 8.2gr of unique for a 185JHP!!! This just seems huge but I'm use to w231 at 5.7 gr and this is a completly different powder. I got some test loads made up and will check at the range let you guys know what happened.

    bullet shape

do you guys get better accuracy from different configurations or bullet styles? 45 for example was initially developed as ball ammo back in 1911 or so, at least thats what I've read. So what works RN,SWC,FN,or is this a question with no true answer? Ive' used mostly RS or RN but this is more for...

    unique loads

I'm trying unique on a few test loads and I'm finding huge variances. The bullet is 45acp 185 gr jacketed HP and start loads are from 4.6 to mid 8 gr.. This seems like a huge cushion. What is anybody else using or is this to slow of a powder for .45? Thanks guys and by the way the search engine...

    rookie questions

Thanks guys for the responses I'm loading Berrys 200FN On Lee classic turret with deluxe Lee dies set up as instructions. I've set the factory crimp die up with 3/4 of a turn for a moderate crimp not real hard where you see an indentation. I'm letting these loads go down a Taurus Pt 1911. The...

    precision bullets

What's the story are they any good? I did a search but not working. I've been using plated bullets but precision seems like they may have a good product. Don't want lead so plated ,these bullets or jacketed what do you think?

    rookie questions

    1. I'm using w231 loading 200FN 45 with large CCI primers and getting peppered every so often after shooting. Stuff is blowing back in my face. Is this from my powder or primers or is 5.7gr too hot of load what gives? 2 What is the advantage of faster burning powder in pistol loads? I'm...
