    Leupold M8?

I have a Leupold fixed 12x 40mm with AO. The SN indicates a DOB of 2004. Friction adjustments at apparently 1/2' MOA. No box. It is not marked M8 (or any other markings designating the model). I remember having an old 4x from the late 60's that was marked M8. We all M8 scopes marked as...

    Uberti bolt retraction problem

I have a Uberti made (stamped on barrel) American Arms SSA in .45 Colt. This is the Regulator model and is nickel plated and it also has a 45 ACP cylinder. I do not know if there is uniform parts compatibility with the the Regulator and a similar piece made by Uberti for Uberti. The gun locks...

    What caused this damage?

I see this on rifles from time to time. I cannot image that the stock has been sitting in water. What causes this kind of stock damage?

    Ankle Carry Mag rig

Does anyone make an ankle rig that carries spare mags for auto pistols? With summer pocket carry of subcompacts, it might be nice to have an extra mag in the pocket and perhaps two more elsewhere, such as in an ankle rig.

    9x18

It doesnt seem that long ago that 9x18 ammo was cheap. Now, even Brown Bear is well over $10/box. Has 9x18 gone up more than conventional HG ammo, or am I just imagining that?

    FMJ vs TMJ

I am now seeing pistol ammo sold as TMJ or "total metal jacket". The rounds look identical to FMJ. Is there a difference? If not, is there an apparent reason to rename FMJ?

    "Cokebottle" grips

We're talking wood boot grips for a J frame. I would like to get some grips that have the "cokebottle" profile. In other words, they have the extra thickness at the midriff. I have some made by Esmeralda that measure 1 1/4 inch in thickness at the thickest part and have two finger...

    Colt D Frame snubs

Guillermo's post and that discussion about older Colts got me to thinking. I know that there were various "series" of these D frames within each model. Can someone direct me to a site(s), or, better yet, a published reference book that discusses these variations in detail and which...

    Stinky safe

I have a new AMSEC gun safe. Now it is in the house. I saw in the factory literature that the safe needs "airing out". My safe Really Smells when opened. Enough that it stinks up the entire house when left open for a couple of hours. Don't get me wrong...I am happy with the safe. My...

    FN Mauser Scope Recommendations

I just bought a 1952 vintage FN Mauser (factory) in .257 Robts that I need outfitted with a "period appropriate" scope. We're talking 1950-1969 or so approximate. A classy gun deserves a classy scope. Definitely no 80's-90's or imported third world offerings for this fine piece. Would prefer...

    Auto for left hander

As a right hander, it is hard for me to imagine manipulating a slide stop or a mag release, let alone a typical decocker or safety while shooting left handed. I wish to introduce the auto to my spouse, a left hander. Which pistols do you consider to be most friendly to lefties?

    AR six position stock

I have an AR with with a collapsible "six position" stock. What does "six position" mean? As far as I can tell there are two positions, "expanded" and "collapsed". with a built-in detante-stop for each...... What am I missing?

Safe capacity numbers...what do they mean?

An easy question for those in the know. Take the AMSEC 6030, as an example......it shows gun capacity as....... 12-18-30 So what does that mean? And, what is the significance of these numbers? Are "scoped rifles" included in this scheme? I do know that "30 guns" capacity is...

    HK PSP Question

My newly (used) purchased (Grade C) HK PSP slide fails to lock open after the last round in the magazine. It is supposed to do so. So, I figured....a defective magazine. So, I ordered a couple of extra mags. Out of three mags, I have one of three where the slide locks open after the last...

    1911 - Most reliable

Considering my first 1911 pattern auto, more or less true to the JMB single action design. As absolute reliability as reliability can get is the paramount issue for me. New or used is immaterial. My preferred budget is perhaps $800 or so, but, if I need to go up to $1000 or thereabouts...

    Hi Standard guys?

Any Hi Standard guys here? I have a Model B that appears to be missing a part. I would appreciate someone who could turn me on to exploded parts diagrams and potential parts suppliers. I would also appreciate being able to conduct a brief conversation via PM with someone who has a...

    Appendix rig for PM9

I am experimenting with 2:00 IWB appendix carry with a PM9 using cheap holsters at the moment. Recommendations for a quality rig that is actually designed for IWB appendix carry? Must stay open for one hand re-holstering.

    Under-table holsters

Some years ago I purchased a couple of heavily elasticized holsters attached to a rigid backing. These were designed so that the "holster" could be screw- attached beneath a table, desk, night stand or various other hideout spots. They came in two or three standard sizes and the elastic...

    S&W +P stamps

I have a 2007 vintage 642 that is stamped as +P. I take that to mean that I can shoot +P loads with no worries. And lots of them. Correct? I also have a 1995 vintage 442 (looks the same as today's 642 except for a nickel finish). It is NOT stamped as +P. Does that mean that I cannot or...

    Fiala .22 "auto"

Does anyone have a Fiala pistol or even a picture of one. I recall reading an article about these guns some years ago. It is similar in appearance to the Colt Woodsman .22 but is NOT an automatic. The slide must be manually racked to chamber each round and to eject. Vintage 1920 or...
