Where to Shoot (Public Land) Portland Oregon Area

I recently moved to Sherwood Oregon (close to the Portland metro area), and I'm looking for a good public land spot to shoot at. Grateful for your suggestions.

Random Wide Shots with 22LR Marlin 60

Thanks for the input Thanks to everyone who commented. I appreciate your time and expertise. I think I found the problem. As was previously suggested on this post I had checked, while out shooting, the front take down screw, rear take down screw, and scope rings to ensure that everything...

Random Wide Shots with 22LR Marlin 60

I went out yesterday to sight in my Marlin 60 with a Bushnell rimfire 3-9x32 scope. I tried holding zero at 50 yds from a prone position with the rifle at rest. I would say about 40% of my shots landed where I wanted them to, and held to about 1" groups. The other 60% or so were all over the...

    Two choices 9mm, which one?

Hard to say which one you should choose. I personally love the Stoeger. Fits my hand well. I'm find the SA/DA very comfortable for me, and I've been able to shoot very accurately with it. Rent and shoot both if possible and make a decision from there.

New Savage 64 .22LR...Failure to eject / jams

I used to have a similar problem with my Marlin 60. Different gun, but a lot of the semi auto rimfire rifles have similar mechanics. I tried different ammo, replacing various parts, cleaning, running it with different amounts of lubrication, etc, but couldn't get it worked out. Finally, I...

Anyone bought/sold a Service Six recently?

Picked up a Security Six about three months or so ago for $150. It needed a replacement hammer (the previous owner had filed down the seer). So, with $20 for a replacement and a few bucks for shipping I dropped $175 for a wonderful 4 in. revolver. It is an older model though, not compatible...

Thanks for the point and the information.

    Marlin 60 Age

I have been trying to determine the age of my Marlin 60. I've heard that the serial number is the way to go (you subtract the first two numbers from 2000 or 100 to get the year your marlin was made). However, if I do that then my Marlin was apparently made in about 1904...which I kind of...

Ruger Security Six .357 150.... series grips

I have a Ruger Secuirty Six, 4 inch, 150XXXX series. I'm looking for aftermarket rubber grips for it. I like these: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/rubsecsixsqu.html. However, I've searched this forum for suggestions already, and it seems to be that the older 150XXXX series is...

    Savage 110 Stock Replacement

I have a savage 110 with a synthetic stock. I've been wanting to throw a hardwood stock on it--mostly out of a preference for hardwood aesthetics and ergonomics. A friend of mine turned me on to this one: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Detail.aspx?pid=1250790&catid=484 I wondered...

Marlin M60 Failure to Feed Question

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I'll look into each of your suggestions and report back what I've found. I'm leaning toward either the magazine tube (which is a little loose) or the feed ramp.

    Budget 9mm, First Handgun

I own and like the Smith, but agree that he could do better for the same price. Especially if he's not a big fan of Glocks, as the Smith SW9VE employs a similar system to glock pistols. I think I would go with a Stoeger Cougar if he can find one. Amazingly accurate little pistol, very...

Marlin M60 Failure to Feed Question

Well, the title pretty much sums it up. I have a Marlin model 60 .22 and have been having some major problems lately with failures to feed the ammo. No failures to eject or failures to fire, just feeding. The slide seems to miss the rim and bite into the brass casing instead. It seems to jam...

    S&W Sigma

I've had my sigma 9ve for about a year and a half now. about 1K rounds of various types of ammo (from normal to +P hollow points) No problems. Loved it. Has eaten every kind of ammo I've put through it. Has fired reliably when wet and a little dirty. I like the heavier trigger as there is...

Does Wally World get different Guns?

I fall into line with the other views here. Lots of rumors and little proof. However, I do believe that because of the bulk purchases they make, gunmakers are willing to customize guns for walmart sales only. For example, it's the only place I've seen a savage 110 bolt action package with a...

    A+ for S&W Customer Service

I had to post my experience here as well. Sent my Sigma 9ve off on the 14th with the prepaid overnight postage they provided me. It arrived back on my door step (in Oregon) 4 days later completely repaired (I had a few things I wanted them to look at), on the 18th! I was thrilled. Thanks...
