    I am planning to buy the marlin 795 as my first 22 plinker and will try to use that in one of their practice sessions and will see how it goes. I am planning to get the marlin just for general plinking and not for match purposes.

    Oh I wish. Made in china ammo is the only thing that is not availabe :). Indian ordinance factory is the only entity that manufactures ammo and firearms and unfortunately we have to stick to that :(

    Shadow, it's the other way round. Since there is a ban on commercial import of firearms in India, the chinese and Russian made are very expensive. This is the stock which was imported prior to the law was passed in 1986.
