Anybody try the Outer's brand Tri-Lube CLP? I picked one up many years ago and still use it. It seems to work fine as a lube and protective coating. It seems to be available in the big box stores and everywhere for pretty cheap.

Looking into getting a Rem 1100. What years are the best for production dates? Are the 2-3/4" considered more reliable than the 3" Magnum receivers? Can you shoot steady 00 buckshot and slugs in them for hunting deer? What areas of wears should one look for on used guns? Thanks.

Cleaning the magazine tube out if you hunt and leaving it dry probably is also good for maintenance. Also check the magazine spring strength.

Is there a difference between Pre- and Post- 686 Silver Pigeons? I have a 2018 SP1 which is quite elegant.

Agree with above. I use mine for waterfowling, and bits of vegetation and dirt do make their way back there in addition to burnt powder residue, plastic hull bits. Clean it before hunting season and at the end.

What do you like to use for lubing the mag tube?

For big game, mostly the Buck 110 and BuckLite Max (Essentially the Vanguard blade shape with rubber handles). For fish and small game, the Grohmann #2 B&T.

How often do you need to strip down an Auto-5 to all its small components for cleaning (I.e. taking off the stock, recoil spring, taking out trigger group)? For hunting purposes, not in the rain, is cleaning the bore, wiping down the outside with oil, and cleaning the bolt face and wiping out...

Went out today with the Browning A5 Magnum. I really like the way this thing shoots. It’s swings better than my Wingmaster. JMB shotgun receivers tend to be more compact and it makes a difference in handling. The Ithaca 37 similarly feels great in hand.

This year I tried the wax method for the pin feathers and it worked great. Converted.

Ran out of #4s in 2-3/4".
