    Ruger grip cap removal

Thanks for all he replies; I did see the Midway replacement before posting, but they specifically say Mark II (different shaped pistol grip?). Thus the reason for asking here. I'm satisfied. :)

    Ruger grip cap removal

Search wasn't very satisfying, one thread (or post?) and it was about the 77 Mark ii. Is there a trick to getting the plastic medallion out of the (plastic?) grip cap without butchering one or the other? Question was asked in another thread but not answered and didn't really pertain to that...

    Weighing brass?

OP here, appreciate all the replies. I'm through with worries about this, I'm just shooting 100-200 yards on paper for myself, nothing serious going on. I do sort by headstamp, and saw that Win is overall heavier, but only by a couple of grains. Retired, so the time was cheap....

    Weighing brass?

Had an interesting thought today while prepping brass for fireforming in a 22-250 Imp. After tumbling, sizing, and trimming 60+ pieces I decided to weigh some (ended up doing all of them). Most, maybe 80-85% came in at 156-160 grains, but a few from 148 up to 162. So got to wondering what...

    What's this stock worth?

Mel lived/ worked just down the hill from us, my wife worked for a while with his daughter. If I understood correctly he used the same blank for his laminations with the grain of the layers in opposing directions (180 degrees) and claim was that this resulted in the least variation of stress in...

    What do you think?

Not to derail but a side note ---- to show kids/ new reloaders the power of the press, years back, i ran an /06 case into a .243 die and got a funny looking crushed case that chambers in the 243. ( 40 + year old Lyman Orange - and case - Crusher)

    A I fireforming

Varminterror, your instruction in post #4 makes perfect sense to me and I'm out to work on some very soon. Expand the neck with .243, raise the .22 size die "a bit", try to chamber, and adjust size die down just until the case will chamber. I think I've got it. This is why I love THR even...

    A I fireforming

Should have done some reading earlier namely about "false shoulders". I took three of the cases and ran them over a .243 Win expander, only until it entered the case body, then through the 22-250 A I size die again. Is that a way of attacking the problem? I didn't really want to expand the...

    A I fireforming

I'm new to this aspect of reloading, am working on forming 22-250 Rem (once fired in standard 22-250) to Ackley Improved. Today I ran through 40 rounds, 4 x 5 each of two different powders loaded in 22-250 R-P cases, CCI 200 primers. Out of the 40, eight did not fire. When I got home I pulled...

What Is A Lever Action Classified As?

Not QUITE following the topic, but the Weatherby XXII is a semi-auto/ single shot 22 rimfire. Selector switch will hold the bolt back after firing in single-shot mode and bolt must be manually released (spring-loaded of course) back into battery for each shot from a five- or ten- round...

    update on experiment

Years ago an older (than me) shooter gave me some 25 caliber cast bullets gas checked 85 -grain, and a month ago I got curious enough to try them in a 250 Savage with reduced loads. This was a "just because I can" project. I loaded five each of the 85-grain bullets with Unique, 8- 9- 10- and...

Cast bullets, reduced load in 250 Sav

Thanks Geodude ... the only Lyman I have is the 50th, not surprised these would be in an older volume. This is what I was looking for.

Cast bullets, reduced load in 250 Sav

I came into a box each of 75 grain FP and 87 grain spitzers, cast, with gas checks. I suspect they were for a 25-20 or maybe 25-35, neither of which I have. I do have the 250 with the old slower 1/14 twist barrel, and would like to "shoot 'em up", but don't find any data for cast in the 250...

    Tiny flash holes...

Hopefully within topic, 40+? years ago I had some Herters .338 with flash holes that the decap pin wouldn't go into, just used an appropriate drill bit (as mentioned above) to open them up, and loaded them several times after. No hiccups, and 338 brass is a little more spendy than 9mm.

Might as well laugh about it...I guess.

    .25-06 v 6.5 Swede

You probably don't want to hear this but since no one else has said it .... I have one of each (though the 6.5 is a Mauser) and I don't let either one gather dust. Why not start saving for the next one instead? ..... out ....

    Twist Rate??

A little "drift here, but back to the gain twist ..... Am I right in thinking that bullet rotation/ spin/ rpm stops gaining as the bullet leaves the barrel? In other words, just because spin rate is increasing while traveling through the barrel, once it leaves there is nothing acting on it to...

How to fix Sling Stud that keeps unscrewing (not stripped) on a Synthetic Stock?

Helicoil, epoxied in place --- sling stud, blue loctited into helicoil. Problem solved permanently. Strange no one put this up yet
