    semi auto bans are discriminatory

I was at the range recently and there was a gentleman tearing the center out of his target at 15 yards with some 1911 clone. Not unusual except this man was missing part of his other arm from the elbow down. On the way home I got to thinking that there must be tens of thousands of disabled...

    Need a FAL smithy

Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith who can thread the muzzle of an FAL carbine so a flash hider can be installed? I'd like to stay in the AL / TN / GA / MS area but am willing to ship the upper where I need to. All the local one's I contacted said they can't fit it onto their lathes. Thanks!

How many times can you Duracoat a firearm?

Is there a limit as to how many times you can apply a Duracoat finish to the same firearm? I imagine since the coating is all external it wouldn't matter so much, but does multiple applications degrade the durability of the finish itself? Also, what would be the best camo pattern for a PTR 91...

    Anybody ever used scope shims?

Has anyone ever used these to pick up some extra MOA? I know you can get tapered bases, but do these shims work without making the scope too wobbly?

    Obama's open AWB threat

Did I hear correctly during Obama's speech tonight when he said "we can protect the 2A but still go after AK47's"? Can we assume the gloves have officially come off and, if elected, a new AWB will be on its way?

Removing moly & wax from bore

I recently came into a case of Black Hills 175 moly coated match ammo and am considering trying them out using an already seasoned Rem 700 PSS. If I choose to go back to non moly bullets how do I completely remove both the moly AND the carnauba wax from the bore? I do not plan on pre...

    Barrel swap decision

I have a Remy 700 PSS that is spooky accurate (~.30) and has a brake on it. This is great for normal shooting, but a no no for NRA 1000 yard FTR matches. I cannot afford an entirely new rifle at this time and have 2 choices. 1: cut the barrel behind the brake threads and recrown (11 degree) or...

    Possible Wolf supply chain interruption?

With a new war now seemingly underway in Russia, will the supplies of Wolf ammo and other imports be cut off? Maybe we should stock up asap.... Opinions????

    Muzzle brakes and velocity

I am prepping for a NRA 1000 yard F-TR match in about a month, and found myself in a pinch in that the offical rules will not allow the use of a muzzle brake. Since I had never shot my rifle (.308 Rem 700 PSS) without one, I had no idea how it would perform. So, off to the range I went today and...

rough chamber wall.... does it matter?

After a range session today, I noticed concentric rings etched from the extracting groove to about 3/4" up the case wall. Examining the chamber wall revealed rough circular grooves as well. I assume this was a result of chattering when the bore was cut, and when the cases expanded under...

    case head separation with FAL

Has anyone ever had a case head get ripped off using Lake City brass in a FAL ? I had 2 today. The gas regulator (DSA rifle) was set at #5 and these were commercial reloads (150 grainers). Other than opening up the regulator further, does anyone have any advice or suggestions???? Thanks!

suggestion for a High Road archive

We can expect the antis to keep a running tab on all semi to high profile gun-related tragedies in order to establish a post Heller statistical base of support for the many 2A challenges yet to come. My question is this... does any organization currently exist that keeps a running tab on...

    advice for removing bore 'gunk'

Just picked up a used rifle which apparently sat uncleaned in a garage for several years. It was horribly fouled with copper and it took several hours to get all the carbon and copper out. With a bore light the bore overall now looks in good shape with no apparent pitting. Problem is that...

    Assault thong??

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0617081secrets1.html We need to keep these non sporting & super dangerous thongs off the streets! They have no place in society and only a nutcase would want to own one. They have non sporting features that make them especially deadly. They...

    taurus PT 1911 range report

Just got back from the range with my new PT 1911 and I'm still smiling! I had gone to test some long gun reloads and brought the bull along to get a feel for it. I'm just mad that I didn't bring more ammo with me! Today was just a fun shoot, and it digested every kind of ammo I could get my...

    Who considers lot #'s?

I was at the range recently shooting factory match .308 in a bolt gun. Normally I get .30" average groups with this ammo, but on this day I could barely keep it under 1.5" at 100. I then tried it in a M1A and same thing... Rounds all over the place. This particular box came to me as part of a...

    According to Geraldo....

In an effort to clarify the Drew Peterson gun case, Geraldo Rivera said that short barreled rifles are illegal because the short length makes them "more lethal" due to the barrel length's "ability to cause the bullets to make bigger holes due to the shotgun effect". He also said the only way to...

    Get ready.... here it comes!

The results of a longitudinal study (as seen on Fox) has come out that claims to show a connection between lead exposure and propensity for comitting a violent crime.... Add to the mix that lead exposure has been linked to low IQ. How long before the antis use this to push for even more bans...

New AWB in the near future?

A local sporting goods outlet is currently advertising 6 position AR stocks and high cap pistol mags with a large ad in the local paper saying 'get 'em while you still can'. Even with apparent SCOTUS 2A support do you think a new federal AWB could really be just around the corner?

FOX News just called the M4 a "heavy weapon"

In a lead in to a story about the situation in Chicago, FOX's resident former Marine pilot turned news anchor (I forget his name) just said the. M4 carbine is a "heavy battlefield weapon"!! IMO FOX has a bias against guns in general - they seem to run more negative internet gun related...
