    Ithaca 37 questions

Sid Bell Edition? Hi, I've got a line on, what I'm being told, is an early 80's Sid Bell 37, chambered in 3", none of it verified yet, other than seeing the grip cap in a picture. My question is, what makes it a Sid Bell? What differences are there other than a grip cap? lol And how much more...

    Long range sighting advice?

Actually, I don't know what the correct answer is, thats why I'm asking. I live near a 100yd range, and next weekend we're supposed to go shoot a 300yd bullseye match at another range up state. I don't like the idea of driving halfway across the state to show up at a match with an unsighted...

    Long range sighting advice?

Hi, This situation came up this week and looking for advice from more experienced long range shooters. I'm going to present two scenarios, and let me know what you think. The base line equipment will remain the same, but the situation will change, numbers will be rounded out for convinience...

    Ruger 22/45 Issue

I've got a couple of 22/45's and originally similar mag issues. What works for me is when loading a mag have the slide locked open. Solved both the mag seating issue and misfeed issue I had of driving the first round into the sharp edge of the feed ramp.

    11-87 Question

On my 11-87 Special Purpose I had to install the upgraded gas seal (Brownells) and slightly opened the gas ports. I've run some of the sporting clays 1300fps stuff thru it ok now, but haven't tried regular low brass lately to see if it works now that things have loosened up.

22 LR how much barrel needed?

I've seen posting for that over at rimfirecentral.com, offhand can't remember the exact figures. 16 1/2 to 20 shouldn't be much of an issue, but if I remember longer barrels will definitely slow muzzle velocity. I shoot local bullseye matches with a 20" bull but building an AR-22 with a 16"...

    Ricochet at the indoor range?

Happens all the time, so used to it don't really pay attention anymore, just the nature of the beast. Still got a lump in my forehead from a direct ricochet during a steel speed shooting competition 7-8 yrs ago. Good clothes, hat, earmuffs and safety glasses are a must.

    Ithaca 37 questions

I think this new model has the barrel fixed to the receiver for added rigidity of the firing components. That would not allow the original method of a 90 degree twist of the barrel to clear the mag tube. Not sure why they didn't come up with some alternative means of support, but there seems to...

    Remington 11-87 Super

I have just the opposite problem with my 11-87. I use it as a 3 gun shotty and I can't get it to cycle reliably with low base 2 3/4" brass. I've opened the gas ports and put in the upgraded seal system from Brownell's and it will finally just cycle using the sporting clays 1300fps ammo.

    10/22 pics

Here's a pair I built a while back. Call them the Jerrasic Twins due to the T-Rex stocks. The blue/SS one has won a number of local 50/yd bullseye matches.

    NcStar 1.25-4x Tactical Scope???

I've got 2 of those new NCstar tacticals, but in 2-7x, one on an AR the other on a Beretta Storm. So far not a bad scope for the price. Isn't going to compete with high dollar glass but seems fine for a plinking carbine. Hadn't seen them in the 1.25-4x yet, maybe the model just came out.

Lasers - does anyone actually use them?

One of my speed shooting Beretta's has a laser on it. Have probably shot at least 30,000 rnds with it. Extremely fast for indoor shooting. Not quite so good outdoors. It takes a little while to learn the different focal point when shooting, you don't even look at the gun or the sights, all your...

Just bought a Ruger Mk III Hunter

Quote: Did notice that the first round in a mag tended to nosedive and impale itself on the sharp lower edge of the feedramp. Only did it on the top (first) round, but did it in all 5 mags. Make sure the orientation of the first round is correct. Here is a pic of how it should be...

Just bought a Ruger Mk III Hunter

Last week at the local gunshow I picked up the Mk III 22/45 Hunter with the 6 7/8" SS fluted barrel. Swung by the local indoor range and put a couple hundred rounds thru it already. Did notice that the first round in a mag tended to nosedive and impale itself on the sharp lower edge of the...

    Bullseye rifle accessories questions

Hi, Not sure what the proper name of this item is. When shooting Bullseye offhand matches, some of the shooters use a removeable fwd grip that drops down about 6" and allows your left elbow to rest on your hip to support the gun better. Fwd. Palm Grip?? Anybody know the proper name and...

Trying to figure out what USPSA division to shoot my .45 ACP 1911 in

There are a few differences between L-10 and SS. L-10: Modifications to gun allowed. Magwell allowed Race holster allowed Wide body allowed And a few other things, but you get the idea, you can shoot a full on race gun as long as you only use 10 rnds in the mag. SS: No major mods to...
