    Sons of Guns

Watch Sons of Guns and pretend you know jack about the subject. You know so little that when you see a gun you think to yourself, "Hey. that's kind'a neat. Wonder what it is". Guys - that is the audience this show is directed at. Every non-gun person I know that has watched the show loves it...

    Ultra High Muzzle Velocities

Hmmm... 10's of kilometers/sec. Don't think so - at least not with any conventional material projectile and probably not with any exotics either. Here's why. Assume just 10 km/sec. At 3.25 feet per/meter that is 32,500 feet/sec. 60 secs/min and 60 mins/hour = 3600 secs/hour...

Will the "colors" of case hadening fade over time?

A good paste wax will go a very long way towards preserving a case hardened finish or bluing. If you don't want to do that then take a paper towel soaked well in Breakfree CLP (well shaken) and generously swab down the areas you wish to protect. Let it dry for 24 hours. I've done both...

    projectile stabilization

Think lawn dart... Not kidding. Fins are smaller but the projectiles, especially the armor piercing ones look remarkably similar.

How Do You Justify, In Your Mind, Large Gun Collections?

Hmmm... Not going to read thru 7 pages so if this has already been said - and it probably has - then it bears repeating. Its not about covering shooting situations... Its about want. If one wants a 1000 guns and can afford them there's absolutely no reason not to have them. No...

    Why FFL...?

Using that logic the founders were absolutely not to be trusted... Personally I'll go with the guys who have enough brains, integrity, honesty and pure gumption to question bad laws and take action as necessary to change them. Or I suppose we could all be good little sheep and bleat our...

    Kahr P380 or Sig 232

For reliability and accuracy the P232 IMO beats the Kahr hands down. That said: The P232 utilizes a blowback design and the felt recoil is much, much harder than one would expect from such a small cartridge. It took me a couple of hours of shooting to get used to the gun enough that I could...

Help with concealed carry purchase decision

don't just rent it and shoot it... Try putting your choice in your pocket with a pocket holster and test how it behaves during retrieval. When I decided to pocket carry my 1st choice was the Keltec P3AT - unfortunately it just didn't carry right in my pocket with or without a holster and...

    Ron Reed's Serious PD Ammo

Geeeez! What part of a good shoot don't some people understand. In most states if an attacker has the means, the opportunity and the intent to cause bodily harm the use of lethal force is legal. Lethal force is lethal force whether it is applied via baseball bat, knife, 45 ACP ball or a round...

    Unintended Consequences - John Ross

OK... What could I possibly have written to indicate that I found Ross' solution workable? What. Ross' solution is fiction. Albeit an entertaining and interesting one but certainly not workable in today's world. It seems that the crux of our disagreement boils down to what we find...

    Unintended Consequences - John Ross

I am not a literary critic but I do know what I like. UC was an engrossing novel I found hard to put down. The characters were real enough and the plot line plausible (though plausibility is hardly a requirement for a novel). The amalgam of fact and fiction was done well enough that anyone not...

Why Are We Fighting Useless Battles?

Cite examples... Looks a lot like you're projecting here. Have there been no cases where a LEO was stripped of his weapon? You're a cop aren't you?
  14. W

    Has this happened to you?

Typical... Because as we all know LEO's are the only one's here qualified to handle a gun. :cuss:

    Unintended Consequences - John Ross

Nope... But I can see how you might think that. Should have worded it as "if one is" instead of "if you are"...

    Unintended Consequences - John Ross

Literary schmiterary... If you're a bleeding heart liberal university prof then maybe UC suffers on a literary level but for those who read for reasons other than critical UC is a pure T unaduterated entertaining don't want to put it down novel in my opinion and I've read everything from...

    Hoppes #9. 2 Questions....

Ages ago when I was young and didn't know any better Hoppes #9 was used by me. But times change and there's lots of better cleaners available now and none of 'em have that wussy purfumy smell that hoppes has. When I was in the Army - back in the age of stone some would say ('71 to '74) we...

    Sons of Guns

Saw it last night. Not terribly impressed with the core of the show, the upgrades they did etc. BUT I did like the owner. Seems like a pretty cool guy and the interaction between him and his daughter who actually runs the business was interesting and entertaining. It's one of those...

    Rust

Get rid of the rust. Liberally coat the area with Breakfree CLP. Let it dry. You'll never see rust there again. (Worked on my Sig P220 and 2 Ruger Vaqueros both of which were prone to rust spots)
