    S&W model 36

J979,xxx fits into the 1982 serial number range as reported by Supica and Nahas. With the standard warning that S&W did not always ship in exact serial number sequence.

    What would you have done?

One of the best reasons to post such scenarios is to discuss the pros and cons of various actions before something happens in the hopes of giving the next potential "victim" some good advice tohelp them survive.

    What would you have done?

Why don't you ask? You might be surprised by the answers you get. Please note that you used the term "everyone" while I used "many". I still think that my take on the general awareness of many if not most THR members is more accurate than yours. BTW, thanks for your service. And...

It Happened At The Range & I am Happy It Was Not During A Confrontation

Had a complete casehead separation with a (are you ready?) Glock 23. The base went flying whicle the rest of the case remained in the chamber. Took a few minutes to figure out what happened and how to get it out. Defintely not something I would have liked to have happen on the mean streets...

    What would you have done?

You would lose that bet. Many people here do think about different scenarios and formulate plans. Just because you might react without thinking does not mean everyone else would.

    What would you have done?

Good question. I live in a small town and know many of the cops on our (small) force. I think that I would have called in a report of someone outside my house and asked for an officer to come out. Did you ever find anything suspicious other than the car doors? Do you think that maybe you...

I have sold 12 or 15 firearms out of state and always use my FFL to ship them USPS. Much cheaper and we have never had a problem.

    Pierce County, WA

I used to shoot at the Marksman back when I was stationed at McChord in the 1980's. 1982-91 actually. We used to have a really good core of shooters. I wonder if any of them are still around?

Were your parents Anti or no?

Dad was gone and Mom never had the money or inclination. She may have been mildly anti if asked, but it never came up. Interestingly enough one of my grandfather's possessions from his days working in Brooklyn as a tailor was a well-used sap.

    Charter .38 Question

I have a Charter Arms .38 I picked up several years ago. My experience seems to mimic Jim's. I decided to use lightweight, standard (I hope) pressure rounds in it. I settled on the Federal 110 grain standard load. Mine seems to shoot this well.

What's The Etiquette On Carrying In Someone's Home

If the person would object seriously or would react badly if they knew that I had a firearm, I most likely would not be there in the first place. Unless it was someplace I had to go for good reason.

Which .22 Lever Action & Why

The first gun I ever bought was a Marlin 39A in 1971 and I still have it. When it's time, it will go to my son.

    Medal of Honor questions

LW, Thank you for that link. No matter how much I think I know, learning about men like Rear Admiral Antrim shows me that our ability to demonstrate bravery in the face of such cruelty still exists and provides real profiles in courage for the rest of us.

Ala Dan My condolences on the loss of your friend, U.S. Navy Captain James G. Pirie. Men like him should be honored and thanked for what they did.

    Medal of Honor questions

Prisoner of War Medal This medal (pictured below) was authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Reagan in 1986. The medal may be awarded to any person who was a prisoner of war after April 5, 1917, (the date of the United States entry into World War One). It is awarded to any...

    Medal of Honor questions

It's a simple recognition of what these men had to endure. I'm not sure why you have aproblem with that. How many POWs have you known? I have served with a few.

    Show us your sweetest M-15

This is my pre- pre-Model 15. It was orginally manufactured as a 6" Target Masterpiece in January (?) 1949. It was then returned to the S&W factory and made into a Combat Masterpiece in May 1950 (according to Roy Jinks). From what I can tell, they most likely cut down the orginal barrel and...
