If you handload, these are perfect revolvers to experiment with. Extremely strong and exceptionally accurate with almost any load. Heavy? Yes, but that weight goes a long way toward dampening the recoil. The only difference between the .44 Mag and the .445 Supermag is the frame and cylinder...
The diameter above the rim of the Legend is .390". The diameter above the rim of the Maximum is .379". At the pressures these cartridges create, I wouldn't try it.
The .357 Maximum erosion issue was caused by those using the wrong powders and wrong bullets. The Ruger SRM, Dan Wesson SuperMag and United Sporting Arm's Seville were never intended to be varmint revolvers. They were meant to slam steel at up to 200 yards with enough force to topple them. They...
My Dan Wesson 14-2 with a 3" EWK extra-heavy barrel and factory combat grip . I carried this revolver for years on armed posts with its factory 4" barrel and a Pachmayr grip so I'm just used to it. Switching to the shorter barrel and smaller grip let me drop it into a front pocket for true...
My Dan Wesson M14-2 will not accept any brass that has not been resized. Factory ammo is no problem. My Taurus, on the other hand, doesn't require resizing.
Even though they did make the 715 briefly, I don't believe CZ ever intended to produce Dan Wesson revolvers. They bought the company for the name and the high quality 1911 pistols. I seriously doubt they'll ever be made again and that's a shame.
The .357 Maximum is a straight forward lengthening of the .357 Magnum to 1.605". Maximum brass has a thicker web area (similar to a .223) for higher pressure. The best way to describe the .350 Legend is a 9mm case lengthened to 1.71" and given a .223 rim. I assume its web area is thicker as...
A bit late to the party but, if you load 158gr XTP-HP's in .360DW brass trimmed to 1.40", you come in at just under 1.71". The 180gr XTP loaded at its lower cannelure in Magnum brass comes in just under 1.70". Both allow you to use starting level .360DW data to develop loads.
I had to chuckle at this.....
The headspace at the cartridge mouth of the three models does not need moon clips.
That's a good thing as moon clips would require removal of the cylinder for reloading.
So the same group that owns Dan Wesson also owns Colt? Are Colt revolvers that desired that you'd purposely tank production of Dan Wesson revolvers in order to buy Colt?
My uncle had one but I doubt he ever shot any actual .30 Carbine ammo in it. Those were reserved for his M1. For the sixgun he'd reload the brass using .32-20 load data.
I carry a Dan Wesson M14-2 with a 3" EWK extra heavy shroud and barrel and factory combat grip. I carried the same revolver with a 4" factory barrel and a Pachmayr grip for years working armed security. It's simply what I'm used to. Current ammo choice is Barnes 140gr VOR-TX.
My wife began...
