Best book for a new reloader?

I also would recommend Lyman, the thing I like about Lyman is that they list several different brands of components. If you buy the same brand bullets all the time it may not matter to you but if you mix it up it's good to have data without buying another manual. I don't purchase every manual...

Desert Eagle, cast bullets, and "the dip"

I just traded off my .44 Desert Eagle last week.....I wanted one for years and finally bought one new last year. It was the worst handgun I've ever owned, the amount of jamming out of that pistol was insane. 2 or 3 rounds per mag was the norm and it also wanted to spew powder back at the...

    Rate Glock 23 please.

The label on your box will tell you how many magazines come with your Glock as well as their round count. Gen 3's generally come with 2 and Gen 4's come with 3.

    Kel-Tec : What's the Latest Opinion ?

Only experience I have with them is my Sub 2000 .40 cal......seems like a fun plinker to me.....goes bang every time and it was cheap to purchase. I've only had it a short while but so far so good :) Their big downfall is supply....you can't find them anywhere....I lucked into the Sub 2k...

What is "good" for handgun groups?

I used to shoot paper for groups but now I shoot 4" steel plates instead....as long as every shot hits the plate I'm happy so I guess I call 4" groups good.:D I try not to get too hung up on itty bitty groups with handguns, I used to but found myself starting to get put out with a few that...

    Rate Glock 23 please.

The G23 is one of my favorite .40 autos....I do prefer the G27 though myself. Shoots every bit as accurate, is easily manageable on recoil and is easier to conceal.

GSG 1911 22 - Like em or love em

I like mine alot....I didn't like the original sights so I bought a set of sights from Dawson precision...a nice fiber optic front with a serrated target rear sight. It is one of my favorite .22's

    Ruger Mark III/Browning buck mark

I disliked my Buckmark....the trigger was nice out the box but the Ruger 22/45 was fine also. The 22/45 was always more accurate for me and I prefer the take down of the Ruger that doesn't require any tools. The Buckmark required removing a rear sight screw to get the slide/bolt out which...

    General Purpose rifle

Sounds like a Ruger Frontier in .308 would fit the bill for you....they've been discontinued but there are still some new ones available. You can mount your scope conventional or in the scout configuration....given the 3X9 scope choice it doesn't sound like you necessarily want a true scout set...

How many here have shifted to 40sw?

I have Gen 3 .40 cal as well as a Gen 4 .40 cal and I really haven't been able to feel a difference. I know they claim the recoil reduction but I just can't feel it. They both shoot well and the rough texture on the Gen 4 is nice but not much difference to me otherwise. Am I the only...

    Anyone use .17 WSM

I've had one for a couple months and I like it....shoots well. The only downside I see to it other than the "ugly" stock is that the barrel is thin....you need to allow ample cool time to shoot pretty groups. The rifle if allowed to cool between shots is well under 1" @ 100 yards. I still...

    Chronograph

I like my Pact XP pro chrono....the parts for the sensors are cheap or so I've been told:o I got the IR version so I can use it indoors as well as outdoors, I like having the "brains" on my bench along with a printer.....as soon as I get the info I want I print it out and put it in the case...

Worst Revolver You Ever Bought ?

Rossi .357 mag stainless revolver....the revolver was a great looking piece....on looks alone I'd give it a 10....looked better than most of the Smith/Ruger revolvers I've owned. The real problem was with the barrel, the finish in rifling itself was terrible so it would lead up something...

    What rifle to purchase ?

The RWS 34 is a good choice that falls in your budget, springers can be difficult to shoot though....if you hold them incorrectly they shoot terrible groups. They will also devastate your scope, get a decent air gun scope or stick with open sights or you'll break the scope in a few shots...

How many here have shifted to 40sw?

I haven't shifted but I was unable to decide so I have some of each.:D

Why should I buy Glock 23 over Walther P99?

I prefer Glock although like has been mentioned a couple times already don't overlook the G27 .40 cal baby Glock....I have a 23 and 27 and the accuracy of them both is very good but the 27 doesn't print as much. Accuracy between the 2 is so close it would be impossible for me to pick a winner...

Beretta 92/M9 in .45 acp. Would you buy one?

I wouldn't buy one, heck half the time I question why I still own my 92G 9mm.:o

What is the safest Max OAL

A bullet that is seated less will have a lower pressure, if it seats in your magazine and has enough bearing surface that it doesn't move it isn't too long.
