    lets talk m1a/m14

For $1700, you're looking in the ballpark of Springfield Armory for a factory rifle. Springfield Armory is a good company, and make decent M1A/M14's. Maybe not as primo as a forged one put together with all USGI parts or etc., but odds are you'll never stress a Springfield to the point of...

    A graphic reminder to............

Well, now that's unsettling. Been using some AMERC in my 1911's lately, and saving the brass if I ever start reloading. Guess I melt that junk down...

Carry spare mags for CCW? If so, Full size or compact mags?

I carry a 1911 strong side with an 8 rounder in it, and two 10 rounders in a double mag pouch opposite of the sidearm. Helps offset the weight a lot. And bigfatdave, that idea is brilliant; I have a Mini Mag and that never even crossed my mind. Gonna try that now.

Love guns but have never/would never hunt?

I wouldn't mind hunting to give the meat to a needy family. For myself, I have no taste for it.

So what's the general consensus on the FN Five-seveN?

The muzzle blast from the pistol is quite impressive. I'm used to shooting .45, and that little bottleneck round will really move some air. Hardly any recoil to speak of, just a slight bobble of the muzzle. Fun to shoot, that's for sure. One of the main things I don't care for much is the...

Springfield Armory - M1A Standard vs MC Operator

Rifle. Unless the .45 autos are not 1911s. Even then...having a good rifle is almost a must for a basic collection. You've got sidearms for carry and a shotgun for home defense, but no rifle should hordes ever become an issue. Regardless if they never do, insurance is always nice. It seems as if...

Do you keep your cardboard gun boxes?

Yes I do, and have no intentions of selling it.

Do you ever miss the novelty?

Thinking back on my youth, I remember years ago going to gun shows at the younger ages of 15 and 16 with my dad and the uniqueness of so many guns that I saw...my parents didn't really have a lot of firearms, perhaps because I was young and growing up. The most I knew we had was an H&R .22, my...

Need Fast Help on Rifle Price/Purchase (AR15 in 5.45)

$700 seems a standard starting price for any quality AR, and if it's the caliber you desire (I don't see many ones like this for sale), then it's a deal. If you want it, go for it. edit: Plus 5 free magazines? Dang right it's a deal.

    1911 picture thread...let's see them!

I'll tell you as much as I know about it...the serial number on the frame is in the 34,xxx region, which, from what I could find on serial production dates, puts it at about 1913 for being made. No government markings. The bluing is perfect, so I imagine it was refinished at some point. Here's a...

    Mernickle Holsters?

Mernickle is an excellent company. I have the SH9 dual shoulder holster. It's a fine piece of craftsmanship, and I would not hesitate for a second to recommend their work to anyone. I just put in an order the other day for a PS6M, PB1 and two PS23's, all in plain black of course. Can't...

Wearing the 1911 while out side

    Perhaps a drop-in .460 Rowland conversion would be a decent alternative for 1911 bear-carry.

The GSG-5 goes the way of the dodo

Crap. Now I almost feel an obligation to get one before they skyrocket in price. One at the local sporting store...hmm.
