i would aim downstairs also. if the round went through him, it would land in the floor. luckily, the layout of my house, the perp wouldn't make it too far. my security system would alert me before he had a chance to get up stairs. My 9 is always on my night stand.
most people are clueless of what's around them. I carry concealed with an OWB holster. I find the IWB's to be very uncomfortable to me. To the trained eye, one could probably tell i conceal, to the average joe - you would never know.

My biggest concern with using my AK as a defensive weapon is the chances of the round penetrating the aggressor and going through 4-6 walls and hitting someone else.
Ive heard people say they were crap too. my dust cover doesn't move at all on my AK.
my ak gets beat up too so i am not about to drop $400 on a scope.
i am debating getting all three and hot swapping them because it has a rail...scope for longer range, dot and hud for more tactical, home...
