Olympic shooting competition and societal questions

When I saw the air rifle and the trap, it got me thinking about not exactly 3-gun, but something a bit more "tactical" with shooting steel plates. Rifle (AR) or pistol. It'll never happen, but I think it would be cool.

    Rates of Fire

Oh I've seen Jerry. Even "John Wick" is pretty handy with a gun. I might be fighting a losing battle with this guy, in fact I am. Yet I don't like just leaving it. Ignorance spreads a lot faster that facts, and once it gets ingrained its mighty hard to correct.

    Rates of Fire

And if they want to ban everything that's fine. They are entitled to their opinion and desires. I've only ever asked that they know what they're talking about and be consistent. And preferably work to change the 2A through an amendment process and not legislation. It's like calling the AR a...

    Rates of Fire

Perhaps. But thumping our chests and crying 2A isn't doing a lot of good either. In my opinion anyway. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

    Rates of Fire

I'm not trying to justify ownership. I'm trying to show that ROF is irrelevant. It doesn't matter what we think the 2A is. Perception matters just as much as reality. And saying I can own X because of what the 2A is might be fine for us, but to the uninformed and uneducated it isn't. I want...

    Rates of Fire

Good evening, Does anyone have good information about rates of fire between semi, lever, pump, and bolt action rifles? An individual at another forum has latched onto the fire rate, which is why ARs need to be banned, that similar outcomes to recent shootings wouldn't happen if the shooter...

    Editorial Response - Opinions Wanted

I don't think these people are necessarily anti self defense it's just they can't fathom doing it with a gun. In the comments of the OP a poster said something about guns weren't the answer but carries her keys around to be used as a weapon. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

@hso - Thanks, I always mess his name him. I could look at it and five minutes later completely jack it up. I agree it is long, but I'm not really sure how to shorten it. OR what points to focus on. The OP is complete tripe that I feel like boiling it down to a sound byte or talking point...

    Editorial Response - Opinions Wanted

Good evening, So a few weeks ago this editorial appeared in my local paper: http://www.stltoday.com/news/opinion/columns/robberson-urban-survival-tips-for-st-louisans-concerned-about-crime/article_8b74c4ae-f2bc-5976-b547-60381375af88.html I generally don't like writing "Letters to the...

Just got an email from my College

Its honestly comments like this that irk the hell out of me, totally miss the point, and just go to reinforce that whole "I'm defenseless without a gun" mentality. Where did I say anything about sitting there and taking it? Where did I say that you have to be the victim? If for you your...

Just got an email from my College

Its not a straw man. Its an actual question. A user said colleges were encouraging students to be sitting ducks. So what are they suppose to do? Look at this thread. People have scoffed at the idea of a meeting about what to do with an active shooter. That schools aren't doing enough...

Just got an email from my College

So what would you suggest? What are your bright ideas? Allow concealed carry? Is that the magic answer to everything? Ok, concealed carry is allowed. Then what? If the active shooter is in your room, what are you going to do? Draw down on him? What if the entire class is between you...

Can The RTKBA be taxed? Other rights can't be.

So if you aren't carrying you're just go to accept the consequences? If I'm going to resist, I'm going to resist. The only thing a gun is going to do is change my strategy. Lacking one does not mean I cannot defend myself.

Can The RTKBA be taxed? Other rights can't be.

Show me where it says I can't defend myself unless I pay? Or that if I don't own a gun I can't defend myself. Contrary to popular belief, there are other ways to defend yourself than with a gun. I will concede that a firearm may be the ultimate form of self-defense, but it is not the only one.

Incorrect. You can have a firarm in your vehicle, loaded or unloaded. The only stipulation is that you have to be 21 or older. http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/sheriff/faq.html

I don't know where to start

Further down the page, there is a Reloading/?Handloading Subforum. Here's a link from that subforum that should help you: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=238214 Starting there, and asking questions would be my suggestion. I did buy the book ABC's to Reloading, and found it...

Lifestyles of the rich and packin': High-profile celebrities seeking gun permits

Oh my god double standards! Seriously, yes it does suck. I don't really see why you'd be surprised about it though. The "elite" have always had it better over the "common" man.

    Beretta 92FS 9mm

Its been the service weapon of many police departments, and still the standard sidearm in the US military. I've always had good experiences with it. Some will say its a bit big for what it delivers, but its tried and true.
