how is the charter arms .32 H&R Mag?

I believe they're offering a model in .327 Federal Magnum, which would bridge the gap significantly between the .32 H&R Long that she can shoot proficiently, and the .38 Spl +P that is a standard for carry, as generally acknowledged. Charter has made great strides over the last few years, and...

Boy oh boy, that thing must be like shaking hands with Mike Tyson, loaded with mags.

Sure, I guess if you're Annie Oakley, and the best stalk-hunter in the world.

    20 gauge Turkey load

It's legal to use rifles here in VA. Almost makes it a fair fight, those damn turkeys are smart. A nice .17 HMR or .22 Mag doesn't do much damage to the meat, and no worrying about new chokes.

    Mossberg Model 500 Question

The barrel should have a length listed, it might say 3" Mod or 2 3/4" Full or even 3 1/2" Magnum IC It will list the shell size, and the choke. Just about all modern barrels will handle a magnum load, but check the papers that came with it anyway. The big question is whether...

    Be careful out there...

To point out the obvious, you can hold anything you want while you climb. Though you may fall because you're holding a rifle, you will never be shot if there's no round in the chamber. (Mosin with a bayonet?)

    Armalon pistol carbine, what caliber?

I gotta say, if you took that money towards a pistol-caliber carbine, you could get an inexpensive pump shotgun, and shoot slugs, buck, and birdshot, for any reasonable beginning hunts.

    Sks deer hunt ammo ?

I've got a few boxes of that Wolf HP ammo laying around, I'll try it this year, to see if it works. (I'd imagine the difference at 70 yards is mostly academic.) It runs about $5.50 a box here, at big box places, occasionally down to $4.95. Meanwhile, the Core-Lokt is at least a buck a round.

    Rights restored question.

You know, I looked into this for my Stepdad, it turns out restoring your rights in Virginia restores all of them except gun ownership. For that, you need a pardon from the Governor. It has been done, but not often. Tim Kaine used to be a preacher, it might help if you put some Amens in that...

    Continuation....410 slug discussion

Well, if you feel like the equivalent of 3 .22LR bullets will do the job, go for it. I'm always alarmed by the effectively tiny size of .410 slugs, but at a reasonable range, it'll knock most things dead. There is quite a bit more muzzle velocity on these slugs, but it fades rapidly...

    Another Caliber question

Physics class: Kinetic Energy, K = .5mv^2, where m is Mass, and v is Velocity. If you double the mass, you double the Kinetic Energy. If you double the velocity, you get 4 times the Ke. Trick is, you're not going to get double the velocity out of the .357 Magnum without blowing your Puma...

    Squirrel hunter accidental death....then suicide

Well, I know that there are many valid reasons for people to view English as the only option, but this is one of those instances where a little bit of conversational spanish, or just the ability to call someone in to translate might have eased the tension a bit. There's certainly no blame to...

    I 'shot' the BIG 5

Just beautiful! I know some prefer to hunt them for sport, but unless it's a population pressure problem, I like to see them exactly like this. Skin still attached, roar still inside, and smile on face. :)

Emergency food hunting. Head shots or body?

In the words of Bradford Angier, "It is practically impossible to die of starvation in North America." There is no situation that will come up in which the difference between a head-shot and a body-shot will make a nutritional difference in your life, even if you have to hole up in a rural...
